  1. Hi, Anyone know of the best way to travel from Bordeaux airport to Saint Aulaye (Dordogne) after 6pm? There are no trains after 5pm, no buses, taxis are too expensive and car hire is limited to Avis if I want a different drop off location.               Any ideas!!!
  2. We booked a flight to Bergerac from Bristol for April 2013, leaving Bristol at a comfortable time of 11.50am. Now, Ryanair, have decided to change the departure time to 6.30am, So to be at the airport two hours before take-off, means arriving at 4.30am, so we must leave home at 3.30am to be on time!!!    Grrrrrrrrr
  3. Thanks Nell,              I have made a note of both woodyards and the nearest one is at Pigearias, as I am located near St Aulaye.                                     Thanks again for your help, here`s hoping I can find some wood.                                      Regards    James2
  4. Bricontes are known in France for second hand or reclaimed building materials. A wood yard such as PointP and Rouseau Pro sell stock timber to the building trade. My search for seasoned timber relies on finding a briconte in my area ` 24 ` If all fails I may have to travel further, such as Perigueux or Bergerac.
  5. Anyone know where I can buy some seasoned timber in the ` 24 ` department, preferably around the Riberac area? The usual bricolages do not sell any and there are not any large bricontes locally.
  6. Hi Theiere, We are on the borders of the Dordogne and Charente (area 24) If I take a sample of well water to a chemist, can they check it there or do the have to send it away to a lab? Regards James2

So thanks again you guy`s, keeps her indoors happy too!! Regards James2
  9. Hi, I have a Delta 200L ( Steatite ) electric water heater, purchased from Mr Bricolage in Perigeaux in 2005. Recently I find water continualy running from the ( red vindage ) valve, positioned under the tank, which I believe to be the expansion valve. As per the instructions I run off some of this water once a year. This time however, water leaks from this valve, EVEN IF THE TANK IS COLD. Is the valve faulty? or is my water pressure too high? Regards James2
  10. Have you thought about tiling, there is quite a range now.
  11. Hi, Anyone know when Ryanair might be showing early schedules for Bristol to Bergerac for 2011? With such an unreliable service we need to get booked in! Regards James2

  13. THANKS PACHAPAPA, Your last post led me to the solution, I did not enable Plug-ins in the Internet Options facility, with plug-ins enabled the flash player now works! Except for the annoying pop-up which keeps asking to allow ActiveX and Plug-ins to run, all is well. Thanks again for your help Regards James2
  14. Hi Pachapapa, Carried out Adobe Flash Player Uninstall first and then followed your instructions and FP successfully installed. Unfortunately the situation remains the same, there is no way of running the program! Regards James2

  20. Friends flying from Bristol to Bergerac, were sat on the Ryanair plane waiting to take off, when the flight was cancelled due to French air traffic controllers strike. NO WARNING! NO COMPENSATION! NO CHOICE! Will air travel always be this bad?
  21. Hi, Thanks for your responses, a trip to my local Bricolage proved successful, the GLASS was cut to the right size and I was assured it was suitable for my woodburner. Although the proof is in the pudding, James
  22. Anyone know the best way to replace the glass in a SUPRA woodburning stove? Most English suppliers have never heard of SUPRA, but the stove is quite popular from Bricolages. Not sure whether the local Bricolage could come up with heat resistant glass. James
  23. I am thinking of booking a ferry with LD Lines, Portsmouth to Le Havre return by Fast Cat, anyone travelled this route? If so, are there any problems to look out for? As I live in Bristol its always an early start to catch a ferry but handy to know any ways to make the trip easier.
  24. Why the Dordogne ? When the canal Lateral is fantastic for small motor boats!
  25. When arriving at the lovely Bordeaux Merignac Airport departure lounge my wife and I looked for the "check in" location for Easyjet.  We were directed outside the building to a black shed built alongside the main terminal. As usual, we were two hours before take-off.  Looking around the new (windowless) building for somewhere to sit there were just 10 steel seats which were very soon occupied.  Our "check in" desk for Bristol was opened half-an-hour later than shown on the paperwork. Booking in a suitcase is more complicated than previous flights. After passing through security, we entered a very small Duty Free area with hardly any seating.  What seating there was were wooden benches and wooden chairs around a few tables in a cafeteria.  Another hour passed and by now the plane was delayed.  As the small departure lounge, with its wooden benches, was completely overcrowded with many people standing, passengers from the next flight to Liverpool were beginning to enter the lounge. Then we were called through to a departure gate.  We entered a small windowless corridor area alongside the runway to wait, STANDING, for three-quarters of an hour until the Bristol flight landed. (Obviously this freed up space in the small departure lounge.)  Eventually we boarded the plane. We certainly have no wish to use this route again and will endeavour to fly with Ryanair from Bergerac, where at least there is a larger departure lounge with more comfortable seating.  JAMES 2
