  1. We live North of Bordeaux in the Medoc. This area is quite rural but the main revenues come from the wine industry and tourism. So obviously the need to speak English is quite high. I am interested to know how we go about setting up such a business. Do we register first with the URSSAF or the Chambre de Metiers as is done generally when starting up a business? Can we receive any government grants for such a business? Regards Paula
  2. My friend and I are considering setting up a Language School offering English as a Foreign Language and French to expats in an area where no such school exists at present. We are only at the research stage and looking into the viability of this project. I would be very grateful to hear from anyone else who has set up such a business. Paula
  3. Hi! I live with my husband and two children (girl aged 5 and boy aged 7) in the Medoc about 45 minutes North of Bordeaux. Are you in the same area or the other side of the Estuary? I would be keen for my daughter to have an English girl of her own age to play with. We have been here for a year now and it would be nice for her to have English friends here as well as French.
  4. I am interested in starting private English lessons. I want to work on a part-time basis as my husband is the main breadwinner and we have two young children. I have been trying to find out what I have to do to register. However, so far I cannot seem to find a way to do it where I would be able to pay social security and tax and take some money home!! Can anyone give me some advice about this as I am keen to start and I know that there would be a great demand in the area I live.
