  1. I thought Bromine was only used in Jacuzzi's? I know it works well in at higher water temperatures but I never heard of it being use in a pool. By the way, Bromine is now banned in some countries (e.g. Belgium where we also live) as it is felt to be environmentally unfriendly (although safe for humans) when water is released e.g. for back washing filters or emptying the pool.
  2. We are not connected to the mains and only use water from our underground spring. The water has to run through a softener and a filter then it is fine and is tested annually so that we can drink it. We also use it fill the pool. As far as the pool is concerned, filling from a well should be not be a major problem, rain water falls out of the sky dircetly into the pool after all, but you will need to watch out for: 1. Dirt and stones 2. Algae! Especially if it is an open well, you might find yourself investing in a lot of Chlorine 3. Deposits around the water line depending on water softness 4. Ph can change dramatically every time you top up the pool You could end with a lot of work to save a relatively small amount on your water bill. Good luck
  3. I have no experience on robots but the suction cleaners that attach to the "normal" pool sweep outlet have proven to be pretty useless for us. They go round and round in random circles till the hose gets tangled or they get stuck in the corners. It is less work to do it manually. I believe there are robots specially suitable for pools with liners though.
  4. A fence doesn't work for us either. However, our insurance company has confirmed to us that liability is covered so long as we have an AFNOR approved alarm system in place. We do not require a certificate but we simply need to advise them with a letter before the deadline. (We don't rent out our house, so we have time to continue watching the circus known as the AFNOR approval process....) Nigel
  5. Despite much research on the net I have not found any. Bad news for those in a hurry is that Aquasensor seems to be sold out everywhere and no-one expects stock before early July. (Confirmed to me by manufacturer)
