1. Currently I have 2 TVS. An English TV connected to a Satellite dish and I get a large number of English channels from the Astra satellite. A French TV connected to the aerial and I get the French terrestrial channels. No problem. From October the Analogue is switched off. My French TV is old and small so this is my opportunity to upgrade. I am therefore looking at a nice flat screen with TNT. Will I be able to just use this one new TV for both the French TNT and the English from the Astra satellite connection? As TNT is built in then I am thinking I would just need to insert the cable from my existing digibox into the new TV to get the English programmes as well. Is that correct?
2. Not really! I did the same search but didnt help.
3. A friend of mine who lives near Briare saw an article in his local paper saying that Briare airport is being considered for an upgrade to a Paris airport with 30 minute TGV link to the capital. However this was printed on April 1st so he doesnt know if it is a wind-up or not. Anyone know? I wasnt aware the French papers did a wind up on 1st April a la Guardian/Daily Mail!!
4. Must admit DP wouldnt be my choice. In fact a decent red or a white Loire beats Champage hands down IMO. It is for a wedding present and as I will be back in France before the wedding day I was wondering if it was worth getting it then. Thanks for the input. Agree that the exchange rate makes some of the mid to high priced wines less attractive in France but you still cant get Corbieres, Minervois, Bergerac etc cheap in UK. Well not as cheap anyway.
5. Can anyone tell me how much a bottle of Dom Perignon is in France? In Uk it is from £80 upwards.
6. Cheat and use the ALSA mix and refrigerate it. You will never do it another way. A lot of caterers use it believe me as that is where I got it from.
7.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
A bit over the top. What did you do? Cut and paste from another forum and join up here just to say that? Time waster as proved by your username! The French people I have talked to are disappointed in Henry and disappointed with qualifying in this way but replay the game ? No way! They are already buying the new shirt! Why should France pull out as you suggest or be disqualified? No-one has suggested that in the media, only another game at SDF, Allez les bleus!
8.

Over the 2 matches I thought France were the better side, especially the 2nd half in Dublin where Ireland never got a look in. Yes France's goals were lucky and Henry's obviously should not have stood but I know who I would rather see in SA. I am biased being half French I suppose! As for England being worse than France as someone said above - you are joking! Even an understrength team were not outshone by Brazil. With all the big guns back England have a great chance. France will get nowhere with Domenech and they have struggled all through qualification which England didnt. Final point. If Sir Alex Ferguson can be 'done' for calling ref Alan Wiley unfit what should be done to Robbie Keane for saying that the play off draw was fixed? To be pleased that France are through is not the same as fixing it so they qualified!!!
That under strength England team struggled to get a single shot on target against an equally under strength Brazil side that barely got out of first gear and still had more than enough to have won by 3 or more goals. England, I'm afraid will not do well next year. No international class goalkeeper, their normally solid defence is looking weak with Ferdinand clearly out of sorts, and the right back Johnson is only good going forward, he his hapless in defence. But no other option at right back. Their strike force basically consists of Rooney. Perhaps Defoe is international quality, but the rest aren't. Midfield is England's main strength though, but they still lack top class wingers. Wright Phillips, Lennon and Walcott have only shown glimpses of ability there, while Beckham is a good option only from the bench. I do like the look of Milner who seems strong and has a good end product. Despite doing well in a relatively easy group, I don't think England have the quality to mount a serious challenge. They'd be lucky to get beyond the quarters. As for match fixing. Don't you think it's interesting how the big guns, Portugal, Russia and France all avoided each other in these play offs? They all got weaker opposition, only Russia let the side down. It's going to be an interesting world cup, and really, the winners are going to be either Spain, Brazil or Germany who always seem to perform when it matters.
My main point was that England are  better team than France which they are on all the evidence I have seen in the qualifiers. Also, if you were going to fix qualification for SA why leave it to a dodgy decision in extra time of the second leg of a play off! As usual  the old 'the big teams get all the decisions their way' gets trotted out. Get over it.

10. and as I found out - our Maison de la Presse do copies, but there is a charge
11. Looking at my previous post it looks like I have been on the apero already!! Sorry Clair, mis-spelt your name Jay - thanks yes I seem to remember seeing one at Carrefour Market
12. Thanks Claire - excellent. Now I have to find a photocopier. I am having apero up the road tonight with some French neighbours so I hope they know. Probably the Library or Post Office? I wilol lokk for the nearest CPAM online. Cheers again
13. Whilst at our second home in France recently my wife was unfortunate to have an accident in the garden which required medical attention, including stitches. The doctor filled in the 'feuille de soins' as did the pharmacy and I have attached the bar codes to the sheets. My question is what do I do now? Where do they have to be sent to or taken to? I am not too bothered about the reimbursement of the cost but would like to be 'au fait' with the procedure just in case something like this happens again, especially if it was more serious and therefore more costly.
14. Thanks - eventually, despite the hijacks! I actually missed them as I was on my way back to UK but will return in 3 weeks armed with this info. Yes I could just go round to the nearest quarry but wondered if someone had the figures to hand. Cheers. I have managed to borrow a lorry for the weekend so no trailer required!
15. Can someone give me an idea of the price of calcaire?
16. I tried M & S which included RAC European Breakdown and Green Card but the quote was £110 more than my exisiting quote so I suppose you pay for it one way or another. I will still try one or two others before I give up!!
17. Wish I knew about M & S as I have already got RAC UK and European cover. Should have done my research I suppose. Doh!
18. And are these definitely Fully Comprehensive because I thought I had that but when I read the policy document it said it was Third Party cover only for EU even though my policy is Comprehensive? I wondered if all companies are the same but will try the 2 suggested. Thanks. Sorry Tandem - just realised you said 'comprehensive' in your text.
19. I have recently had a renewal notice from my car insurance providers (Churchill) stating that the Green Card now only offers Third Party cover in the EU and if I want comprehensive cover I have to pay extra. When I rang them they said that a 2 week trip to France, for example, would be £18. This is OK for a 'one off' but as a frequent traveller it mounts up. Has anyone got experience of this? Are all companies adopting this policy? Do any of the insurance companies offer a year's cover?
20. Thanks Ame and Claire. I have a property in France so could contact my insurers. However I am just one of a party of 28 in this booking and dont really want everything to fall on me. I am the one doing the booking of the gite mainly because I speak French!
21. I am trying to rent a gite for 28 people (all adults) in October and have been asked for a photocopy of my 'assurance responsibilite civile'. If this is liability insurance why am I being asked for it? Is it a requirement over a certain number of guests as I have never been asked before? If I need it can someone let me know how I go about it Thanks   p.s. originally posted this on French Legal Issues which was probably not the right place so reproduced here

23. Cheers again. No problems with 'butters in' - more the merrier. I did know about BBC3 and 4 - they came up as something like ETV and CCTV or something like that. You are correct that during the day I got childrens progs but for a month now I get 'no signal'. Looks like 'get the ladder out' time then and tweaking. I didnt mean to be disrespectful to posters but sometimes I ask a question and it is not really answered but hijacked by someone on a tangent, albeit similar to my original question, and then I dont get an answer - that was the refreshing part about your replies so thanks. I am now covered in paint and dust so need a shower before disappearing to the nearest hostelry for wine and food. C'est la vie! Someone has to do it! A plus
24. Thanks Martin. Yes I did a complete scan rather than add. I remember reading on here (now you say it) that BBC News 24 moved. I will try hunting under the new frequency. BBC2 comes and goes - by that I mean somedays it is there and others not - it doesnt sort of fade away!!!  (so maybe that would be the satellite dish moving?) BBC 3 and 4 I had when I was here in October but now they are gone! I am busy renovating so TV is a low(ish) priority but will try your suggestions and come back to you if necessary. Nice to have had a good response from someone - cheers. Mike
25. I have just re-downloaded all the satellite channels and was pleased to find out that I gained a few new ones (to me that is) in Channel 4 + 1 (not Ch 4 though), plus ITV4, E4, More4 and France 24 plus a few music channels. I lost BBC2 and BBC News 24 recently and still dont seem to be able to get them back. Any advice?
