1. Anyone know the French fo circuits as in "lighting circuits" etc? Scotty
2. Thanks Roger you were spot on as it did trigger the next stage payment. Scotty
3. Does anyone know what this means on a builder's Facture? : "mise hors eau " Scotty
4.
Thanks for the mention Vraititi but you did the actual translation of the phrase which is what Scotty wanted in the first place - I just did a bit of speculative rearranging of syllables. Sue
Sue & Vraititi, it's nice to find such modesty in two so young. Thanks again to you both.
5.
Yes Spg, agree with you, would make more sense than my version, yours sounds more plausible ('il faut réaliser l'accés avec découpe du fossé et mise en place de/d'un chemin') although I've never heard...
Vraititi I think you have it cracked, as the builder has to create an access road to the plot and he has to make this access over the existing ditch by the side of the road. He also will dig a hole for the house foundations and another for the fosse septique.
6. can any one translate this? "Il faut réaliser l'accas avec découpe du fosse et luse en place de chemin".
7. I went to my local Chambre d' Metier in Agen and they gave me 3 different translation services addresses from which to choose. Scotty
8.
Have been reading on the posts and it all seems a bit of a minfield for foreign buyers. We are coming to France to live and want somewhere nice, with good schooling, lively and a lovely area. ...
We are having a new house built in Lot et Garonne (47). We have bought a plot of land 2500 (sq metres), and the builder's English- speaking architect is a bonus. We picked our own house design and the architect drew it up. The builder submitted all the paperwork to the Mairie and even took us to the notaire to sign for the land. We also have a testimonial from another Brit who is already in his house. It's another avenue for you to explore. Scotty
9.
hi every one , greetings from australia. I am thinking of buying a barn in the limousine area. i will be in europe from jan when I hope to come and do a reccy. My question is what is the worse case sc...
Hi Ada I discussed this question with a French builder who said , if the building is made of traditional random stonework, you could base the price on euro 1,500 per square metre. This conversation took place in July 2004.
10. I would not recommend fixing any cables to pipes of any kind. To support it, you could fix it to the wall at one metre spacing using a rawlplug and screw to attach a cable clip available in DIY shops.
11. I am a time served electrician and have worked in dept. 47 as an electrician/plumber/joiner/tiler. There is plenty of work, but you must realise that if you only work for the English speaking community then your jobs will probabably be spread all over a very large area. You tend to be on the road for long periods and living in hotels depending how far away your job is. I hope this is a help to you.
