what's the economics of running a generator?

Is there any call for an English plumber/engineer in France. we'd like to relocate & work (legit) in France but need to try to see if there's a market. Anyone got any comments/advice/jobs?

we have put the board up, but the new build isn't quite the same as the permission asked for ( actually its completely different but smaller) what's this declaration stuff about? does the builder do it?

what's french for self levelling compound, where do I get it, how's it used & how much is it? would be gtateful if anyone could let me know?

many thanks for the reply, I was begining to get a little worried by this, knowing the french love of paper work & pointless job creation schemes. I'm aware that there is discussion of a self certification scheme being proposed in UK & presumably the British building inspectors will also become a thing of the past

We've got some french builders constructing an extension for us (with planning permission). In England any new build will be inspected by the local council. Does anyone know if such a requirement exists here?

We're thinking of buying a flat in Antibes and although we love it here we're not sure about the rental potential. Anybody out there who has any experience?

Sorry to change the subject, does anyone know what language my PC will speak if I buy in France, my French is OK but I don't want to spend all my time sorting out problematic computer programs in French.

has anyone had problems with orange mobile. I bought a phone last Nov. with a contract 'temps libre' at 20 euro a month and now they keep charging me 46 euro a month. Endless arguement - sorry I mean discussions - on the 'phone have produced an apology and umpteen promises to put it right and nothing happens. How do I get this put right? Its driving me mad.
