  1. I opened a bank account in december, passport, utility bill-from England and I also took an english bank statement just incase as well as having my bank card on me as well!!  I also had some info on the land we were buying, he checked the first two of these and took photocopies and laughingly told me to stop as I had bought enough!  It was the local Credit Agricole and they couldn't have been nicer, especially as my French is not good but he spoke some English and made sure I understood everything he was telling me, they have also printed a folder in English which they gave me about the Bank and I have his email address for contacting him about anything that came through the post I didn't understand!  Easy! (Thank goodness!)
  2. Why this department?  The reason I ask is before we purchased our land we spent quite a few trips going around the area (the whole of the west coast by the time we had finished!) I'm glad we did as there is a difference in the three departments of Limousin.  Whilst we didn't actually get right into the Correze area as we all decided that we prefered the 'other side' and turned round!! Driving round though we all remarked how the villages were very tidy and neat and there are some lovely areas but it depends on what your preferences are but in the end the best advice is to make the time and look because it is quite varied. By the way we ended up just over the border of Haute Vienne (beautiful) in the Dordogne!!
  3. 'The blue door' is actually in Bellac and english speaking.
  4. I have been looking into these as well, you can buy a book that tells you how to construct one, do a search on natural swimming pools for them to come up, I think that most of the books are from America. There is a fantastic looking pool with a water fall-great idea-they have some information and diagrams, if you have any building knowledge you could work it out but read the information on some of the sites that come up. I thought there would be some sort of diagram/how to, but I think its going to have to come from a book!!
  5. According to the person from the tourist office he went to, she thought a B&B was needed in that area and was a good idea!  BUT would anyone want to pay about £75 a night to stay in a room on a farm?  I would want something extra, extra special for that price - like ALL of it. He will also have quite alot of work to do on the rooms to get them up to scratch from what I could see. It will be interesting to watch how he'll do it!
  6. Thank you for your replies am off to find my husband and brother in law for a chat-they are fishing-and will get back to you asap
  7. Found you on my map-thank you-Yes around your area and to the right up to A20 but also see if we can go down further as far as perigord limousin region, the reason why I put the post was to find some place to stay and head in different directions!  Due to the time of year I know alot of places are closed I thought that those living in that part of France would be more in the know!!  So any help is most appreciated.
  8. What I should of said we are starting from Brittany and driving down the western side of France, when I have looked at the map I was trying to work out how far down we could drive AND look at the same time, thats why I posted here
  9. I ask as we - two couples - are driving down the west coast next week friday till monday so might be one nighters in different areas.  My question is are any chambre d'hote's open or would it be easier to find a motel/hotel for that shorter time? No not as mad as my name we did have a base place all planned, but as luck would have it, thats gone up the swanny - so to speak! Hope someone can help, thursday night we will be stopping around the border of Brittany, we catch the ferry back monday pm. Thank you.
