  1. We have a stripped pine kitchen table and wonder what one treats the top with. When we had a wooden kitchen work surface in the UK we used to oil in regularly, do you do the same with a table top or scrub it or what? Thanks in advance Keith
  2. Thank you all very much for taking the trouble to reply. I have looked at Satcure (yes very OTT) and other satallite bits suppliers websites. Made a trip to Mr Bricolage and Weldoms and bought some bits. I might not have posed the question quite right in that I intend to use one outlet at a time and not the two. Yesterday I  installed a splitter in the loft near the satalitte dish and run a lead to the other side of the house and I can get perfect reception on either - great. I have only an English tv so far but will be getting a French one. When I do can I add a coupler between the splitter and the Dish and plug the aerial into this? The boxes all had diagrams on that was helpful and leads me to think it might work but I don't want to try and do irepairable damage. I am very reluctant (scared) to fit a twin LNB as the dish is difficult to reach. Thanks again Keith
  3. Our house already had a Satellite Dish & TV aerial when we moved in. I want to run another supply to the other side of the house. I have two coaxial cables coming in the loft from the Dish and aerial. I thought I would buy a splitter for each and run a new supply to where they were required and connect them to a point (Legrand) which I had bought. Only problem is the point which takes Satellite, TV & FM on the front has only one input in the back. Any advice please - do I connect the two together in the loft and run one supply? With thanks Keith aka confused of Castet
  4. According to my local tax office in 32 tax is due from the day you move to France to live. Keith

  6. I have just cleaned ours with 'Saudre Caustique' and it worked a treat. Needless to say because its strong take the usual precautions ie gloves etc or get someone else to do it! regards Keith
  7. I thought the exhibition a little disapointing though the whole visit to Laverdens most enjoyable. It was the combination of the exhibition, the chateau, the village and a good meal in the restaurant outside the chateau that made the visit worthwhile. Keith
  8. Funds left Moneybookers 21st July Funds arrived CA 9th August
  9. Despite various critical comments of their pricing policy I found them very fair. I had to change a crossing from next Friday to Tuesday and the charge was 25 which I thought not unreasonable. The total for both was was still onlt 105. If there was no charge for changes everyone would be booking early any 2 weeks to get the best price and changing later when they had finalised their plans. Keith
  10. If anyone is in the area on Sunday 20th June there is a Vide Grenier on in Castet-Arrouy which is in the Gers near Lectoure. Keith
  11. I bought my Sky Card to enable us to receive ITV in January. Due to unseen circumstances we have only just inserted it into our digi box (in France) and it does not work. I am using channel 103 and all I get is a message in a red box '103 channel not available' Any clues With thanks Keith
  12. just moved using 'The Old House' at Seaford. Did all what they said and the crews both ends were great regards Keith
  13. We are (hopefully) moving to the Gers in 4 weeks. What has now come up is the possibilty of carrying out the book keeping for my old company from France. What it would mean is communicating by phone, email (no broadband in our village) and post. Invoices would have to be sent from England and returned. What would be the best method and has anyone any idea of costs and time? I have to make a quick decision so would be grateful for any feedback. With thanks Keith
  14. We are considering taking our two cats on either the Portsmouth to Cherbourg Fastcraft or the Newhaven to Dieppe Seacat. We are concerned about their reaction to the noise and ride of these craft. Has anyone tried them with their cats and how did they get on? With thanks Keith
  15. Though I have read various threads - and very helpful thank you - and some articles on the CMU one thing I cannot get my brain round is this. I believe that when you reach retirement age you cease paying into the CMU. But if you and your wife are the same age (or the husband younger) when she reaches sixty and is exempt do you also get exemption? Hope this makes sense. regards Keith
