  1. Hi Natalie,   We live 5 ks south of Mouilleron en Pareds.  Regrettably I've had quite a few probs with my extremely old computer over the past year.  Best place I've found is in Chantonnay.  Called SIS Informatique at 58 Rue Nationale.  Park in the main car park (next to the church and market hall).  Walk from the car park to the main road and turn left, shop is about 25 metres on opposite side of road to car park.  Has sign outside.  Owner speaks good English and is very helpful.  Prices are quite reasonable too. Sometimes, but rarely, owner is not there and his assistant, who has virtually no English but also very helpful, is in charge.  If your father has sufficient French to make him understand - no probs.  If he can't understand you he'll ask you to come back at a certain time when the owner is in.   Good luck!   Cheers,   Jack
  2. Hi,   We live about 7ks from La Chataigneraie and always use Fioul eco.  They're about 3 minutes from Super U in La Chataigneraie.  Telephone Number:  0251 69 64 65 - Fax:  0251 69 66 55.   If the tank is accessible we'd be happy to help.   Good Luck!!   Jack

  4. I'm sure everyone out there is well aware of this, but just in case.......:  Stopped by the Gendarmes yesterday whilst pulling my small trailer, something I've been doing at least twice a week for a couple of years.  Papers all in order, car OK, almost on my way when the "gotcha" look appeared on his face.  Apparently all trailers, of whatever size, must have a metal plaque attached showing year of manufacture, weight laden and weight unladen.  50 Euros later - on my way.  Ho Hum....!
  5. Totally agree with Ian - My 106 gives complete cover to my wife. I paid NI in UK all working life although my wife did not as she never had full time employment.
  6. Hi, Born in Stowmarket, now living permanently in the Vendee since August last year - absolutely no regrets (well, perhaps a small tin of Heinz baked beans on toast would be nice now and again!). We did lots of homework: Cost of living, cost for utilities, health care, car registration, through to house finding/purchasing/legislation process. It was quite an adventure and only some (thank heavens) small mistakes. Regret cannot make your meeting but wish you all the luck - great idea to set up the group. If I can help - shout - or email! Cheers, Annie
