  1. There was an article about this on the BBC local news last week, about a company in the Creuse. You arrange for your shopping to be delivered to them in the UK and they deliver to you in France. I believe they charge around 15% of the total of the shopping. As far as food shopping goes - I prefer to see what I'm buying, even when I go with a list, I change my mind about things. The only thing I get visitors to bring are Tea Bags - just can't find Red Bush(Rooibos) tea anywhere in my area.
  2. After lots of discussion, we have decided that we can't really give Skye a home. I have spoken again to Vanessa. I hope Skye is re-homed very soon.
  3. Spoken to Vanessa - we're going to think it over & call her back. Only problem is whether our labrador Amber ( who thinks she's a little person) would mix. So may go and see her.
  4. Thanks for all your comments - apart from fagends. Will give them a try.
  5. Can anyone help?? Need to buy something to spray my vegs to kill the bugs. What do I needs to look for? This is the first year we've had a veggie plot.
  6. I hope his insurers are not Admiral. I had an accident which was not my fault - a motorbike crashed into the back of me when I was stationary waiting to turn left. I have full insurance with European cover, evenso the insurance co. were not at all helpful. They refuse to help me with my expenses ( hire car etc) and have taken three weeks to finally agree the repair costs and to give approval to the garage to go ahead and make the repairs.
  7. Parnsips Many thanks for your reply. I will look on the Acte de Vente when we return to the UK.
  8. Different store - same qyuestion. how do you redeem points on Bricomarche loyalty cards. We've spend a lot on money over the last few years, so must a quite a bit. I asked last week and was told to say I wanted to use the card but the total was only for the points gained on what I'd spent at the time - strange??
  9. We also have a maison secondaire in the Indre ( Ste.Severe) for the past few years I've been meaning to question our bill because I think we're being charged more than we should. We are charged redevance d'acces au service + residence secondaire - both the same amount plus forfait acces decheterie & points propres. The total is 66.74 euros per half year. They collect weekly and we're only here on average 4 months is a year.So next time I'm in La Chatre I'll go and check it out.
  10. Thanks Parsnips. We bought the house 6 years ago. Unfortunately our French was not very good at the time and the estate agent who was supposed to translate didn't turn up when we signed the Sale agreement. Is it possible to find out whether there was an 'En Tontine' clause inserted? We are not married to each other and since we retired do not spend more than 4/5 months a year in the house.
  11. Interesting thread. I went to a notaire about writing a will and she just said not to. . Our situation is slightly different. My partner and I both have children for previous marriages. Unfortunately his is estranged from his and does not want them to inherit - he feels they've had sufficient from him over the past few years. We have back to back UK wills - all our money is in UK banks . We only stay at our French house for 4/5 months in the summer. So is it time to have another try at making a French will??
  12. If you booked on line with Brittany Ferries and make the amendment online then there shouldn't be an amendment fee.
  13. we're with Admiral - I called them before I put this post. They said we couldn't extend.
  14. Thanks for your response - looks like we'll be going back to SAGA
  15. We will be spending 5 months at our house in France this year. However checking our car insurance we only have a max. of 90 days cover for European travel - they cannot extend it. Has anyone had this problem and how did they resolve it?
  16. I'm in a similar situation - both been married/divorced. We bought the house in 2004 in joint names but not 'en tontine'.  Any one know a good English speaking notaire in 36 who could advise - maybe the 50/50 option could help us, since my partner does not want anything to go to his children. We are not resident in France.
  17. I've got a Bricomarche card & musty have loads of points - haven't got a clue how to redeem them. Anyone know???

    Pet passport

After all my panic, we had no problems - just went to the desk in the terminal, checked the passport, gave me the thingy to check the chip which was ok - checked us all in & off we went, no mention of a muzzle.

    Pet passport

Thanks Diane - we're going to ignore it. If they say anything, then I'll query why it was ok coming over without one.

    Pet passport

Good luck - as my previous post in this thread, has anyone used Brittany Ferries Caen-Portsmouth route with their dog. We had no problems coming over but have just had the usual email from Brittany Ferries - on reading the Pet Passport section is state muzzles are compulsory on all routes. Does this mean we've got to buy one?? Comments appreciated
  21. Agree with you = prices have gone up considerably over the last few years.

    Pet passport

We're returning home via Caen on Brittany Ferries. This will be our first time. Anyone used with route and can they tell me what the Pet Check in is like there?? Cominmg over, they didn'r look at her passport.
  23. I used the assistance back in April with no problems, apart from being loaded last at Portsmouth. However, the problem I had was arriving back in Portsmouth trying to get in the lift. There were children ' playing' in the lift & when I reprimanded them, I was told rather rudely by the parents to mind my own business.
  24. A few months ago, I saw an advert in living France for house. It said that if you insured via Living France for both French & Uk houses then there would be a saving. Both our properties are coming up for renewal soon. Problem is I can't find which month the advert was in or any details on the main website. Any one out there help me??
  25. Thanks for your response. The devis is for labour only. So, I'll write to him & formally cancel the work. After the bad job he's done fitting the kitchen I don't want him back. As it is, I've got to get some-one in to check the electrics.
