Not just 14mm but a lot of other sizes are available;have a look in your local DIY shed. Our local M.Bricolage has three different ranges of compression fittings let alone soldered and they seem just to vary by 2mm.(ie,10,12,14 and so on).

Look round some of your Sunday markets;certainly in 34,there are people who sell or swap English books/magazines.

£70 a week??As you say,a hell of a lot of money just to hold a minimum;what does it cost to reach a comfortable temperature?

Natural Gas is coming to a lot of towns in France-even out in the sticks- replacing the town gas they did away with 40 years ago.

Our apartment has vents going upto the roof from both the kitchen and bathroom-no extractors-just vents-seem to work well.

You can't buy alcohol in Utah;immediately over the borders into the neighboring states are shops that sell it- to Utah residents.

And even with a transformer, some items would operate at the wrong speed because of the change from 60 to 50c/s.

The Mistral is supposed to blow in "threes";three hours-three days- three weeks-three months???.Further down in Herault a lot of people down there call the wind the Mistral-it's not- it's the "Transmontane".

Not only Carcasonne but also Montpellier and Perpignan which all serve that area but I would use Vias-Beziers-it's only 8 ml. down the road.

I bought a light in M. Bricolage;it didn't work-neither did the replacement they gave me-no problem-the cashier called over a lad who opened all the packages and plugged them in till we found one that worked-they were German!!

I've never had any complaints about Ryanair-take-off on time-get in early but I don't use their "cheap" car-hire. HOLIDAY AUTOS rules - OK!!! Last time I went to Montpellier there was a queue of 30+ people at the Hertz desk(recommended by RA).Allowing 2 minutes for each-probably too little-that's an hour wait.I walked straight up to the firm Holiday Autos had organized and it was cheaper.

I thought the deferred payments were only for purchases outside France and made the charges for the card much higher.

The railway thro' our village has concrete sleepers but there are a lot of the old ones in the area used mainly as fence posts.

Round our way we have Gendarmes,Police and Police Municipale;I spoke to the officer in charge of a group of Gendarmes walking thro' our village and he told me that they had had orders from "on-high" to make themselves more visible to the public. As you say,it was sunny.

A friend of ours bought a house in the Uk with a new fitted kitchen;when they moved in it had a fitted kitchen but not the one they had seen -a much older one.It turned out that the seller still had the older one standing in his garage and decided to take the new one to his next house-apparently the house description had only said "fitted kitchen" with no description of the actual units.Having said that,we have a friend who has a kitchen fitting businees.A lot of his trade comes from people who are buying new houses-I mean genuine new-at about 500-750K and one of the first things they have done is a new kitchen-he makes a good profit on the ones he takes out.

The EU directive on tyres states that tyres fitted to the same axle must be of the same size and type.Other European countries interpret "type" as meaning Radial,Cross-ply or Bias-ply.

Many cars with alloy wheels have a non-spacesaver steel spare;then one of my cars has a steel spare which is full size but is a 14" not 16" but has the same rolling radius as it is larger profile;then you get the true spacesavers and then other vehicles are now being sold with no spare-just a can of goo and a pump.Porsche used to sell a car which had different size wheels front to rear-a spacesaver spare was supplied but the removed wheel was too wide to go in the luggage area so Porsche supplied a plastic bag to put the removed wheel in to allow it to be carried on the passenger seat(or lap).
