  1. I was not sure which section to post this question in but I thought as B & B owners you may have come up with a similar problem. The house I have bought is very nice however the toilets are badly stained, until I can get them replaced I wonder if anyone has tips on getting them clean, at home I would use a good bleaching, but I understand bleach isn't good for the Fosse. Any suggestions please.
  2. Hello, would welcome your opinions, I have a driving licence but have not driven for about 20 years, where I live at the moment I do not need a car, in fact one would be a nuisance, however when I move to Brittany driving will be essential. So do I book refresher lessons in the U.K. or would you recommend waiting until I move and book lessons there, bearing in mind my french is very basic. My husband drives me where I want to go here but I must be more independant, where we are moving to does not have a bus service every l5 minutes. So I must overcome my fear and dislike of driving and pull my finger out. What would you do in my situation. P.S. do not suggest my husband teach me, we have been down that route and he has not the patience, I feel it would lead to a divorce. Looking forward to your views. Thank you, Janet
  3. It has just occurred to me, can I buy condensed milk for my Millionaires Shortbread in Brittany, I never thought to look in the supermarkets for it. If not, what do you use, I cannot think of an alternative. Thank you, not moving over until May, but just completed on the house, I can't quite believe it but no cold feet so far.
  4. Coco, I think you were absolutely right, I used to have a guest at the coast, many years ago but it was then very busy and I had a lot of repeat business, you cannot beat word of mouth, better than all the advertising in the world. I love the americans as a people but they can sometimes be very difficult guests, they expect 4 star hotels at guest house prices and some of them almost require a baby sitter. And before you americans shout at me I have already said as a rule I love you but some of you are very difficult to please.
  5. I wonder if any one has information about care homes, when we move to Brittany in 18 months time my mother will hopefully move with us, she will then be 87. I hope to keep her with us and have no intention of putting her in a home but sometimes things do not work out as one expects. I would be really grateful if any one has experience or advice.
