  1. Thanks Emma have tried this for hours but unfortunately bits of it still refuse to budge. Also in the process can hack bits out of the boards. The room we started on is the smallest now used as bathroom. The other is big bedroom full length of the house. I think we will just cover all up with click together boards. Such a shame as in our main home all the boards are polished but they had been well proctected prior to. cheers Hellsbells
  2. Dave thanks for your reply. May I ask why the carpet is not to be considered. Is this concrete a usual thing they did on boards? I am also asking about carpet from the point of view that there is fitted carpet on the ground floor which has to go because of its colour. Would I be better to try & recolour this carpet & if so is there a product you can suggest. Hells bells
  3. What is a rummage brick & where does it fit in the chimney. We had all our chimineys swept prior to use. Is that sufficient to attest that attention to duty has been done. I paid insurance locally & in person no one asked about chimney condition etc.
  4. In the Domfront area where is the best source of fresh veg. I like to support all the local outlets in preference to the big supermarkets but our small shop in the village does not have a good variety. Maybe because most of the locals grow their own. Unfortunately not being there all the time this is impossible for us. Are there particular market days ? Is there a good source of small shop. We are aware of the Champion supermarket.
  5. We have 2 wooden floors that have been covered in a slurry of what looks like concrete. A lot of it is cracked & just sweeps off. Some of it is rivited to the boards. We were hoping just of clean off & then lime wash & lay some rugs. Any suggestions how we get the surface clean ?
  6. Need some advise on area around Domfront to source some carpet to replace existing in our house. Also good budget source of second hand furniture. Also gravel & cost to clean out our car port. Thoughts & costs of open fires against wood burners ets. We have had the chimney all cleaned prior to use. Our property came with a garden down the road. Is it possible to sell this off ? Or is there a reasonable service to keep it clear.
  7. We have in our house there aretwo wooden floors which had lino on them. On removing the lino we found a slurry of what looks like cement over the boards. About 50% of this is flaking off & we thought fine just chip it off & paint the floor with lime wash look. However it either comes off easily, comes off with chipping or does not budge atall. This is our holiday home & we only have a limited budget & time. Any suggestions ? I have several other questions but do not know how to start a new topic?
