  1. We very successfully opened a French bank account with Credit Agricole(Britline), Caen - simply get onto their website and go from there - good luck. (www.britline.com)
  2. A follow-up from Maruschka's previous posting - I will have a Local Government Pension - is the taxation system the same as for an actual Government Pension or could I elect to pay French tax, should this prove to be a better option? Vee.
  3. LesLauriers' reply to leschenauds was so helpful - thank you. However, this is our position: married couple hoping to move to France permanently within the next 3 months or so....both under pensionable age....no income, surviving on capital until woman reaches retirement age in 2007, when private and state pension come on song. What will be our tax position, please, and who do we have to inform to remain "legal" (I am taking it for granted that we don't need a carte de sejour now; we have our French property and already pay taxe fonciere and taxe d'habitation, and it will be our only property in both UK and France). Any advice much appreciated.
