I've decided to treat myself to one this summer. I know all the arguments against them, but I'm not getting any younger, and stacking and carrying 10-12 stere of wood each winter is proving onerous. So, can anyone with experience of these recommend (or condemn) any particular stove or manufacturer? My main concern is the noise, especially of the fan. This is a very quiet house, and if I have to pay more for a quieter model, so be it. As I said, it's a treat. Cheers

Gardian, FWIW, here in Indre I pay €16/hour for cleaning, and €17/hour for gardening. Paid by cheque, registered via Urssaf and (largely) refunded automatically. A wonderful system!

You can get the correct form from La Mairie. Multi-coloured, multi-page. Genuine form. It costs them €10, I believe.

I may look like a newcomer, but I was denied access for some reason - don't know why. So, for convenince, I re-registered. My question is: I'll be spending a few nights with my son in Paris, at the end of March. A bit of culture, a lot of eating, drinking and talking. I'm looking for a cheap and cheerful hotel. One option is Hotel Familia in 5th Arr. If anyone can suggest any other hotels, or areas with lots of hotels/bars/restaurants, I'll be grateful. Thanks
