  1. Oh you naïve young thing, Minteroony, do you really expect ease and convenience from a government office.

Just today I went to the post office for stamps; the place was being redecorated so they had kindly provided an alternative venue round the back. So far so good; but for the “convenience” of customers they were only opening in the mornings instead while the work was being done. Idiots.

  2. Thank you, Menthe, I have got there now. But like you I had to refill the bank details. Bl**dy nuisance.

I always fill the thing in on a Sunday as it is like the grave round here as most people observe the no noise rules so I cant do much; I need to cut the grass and have a blast with the Karcher so will let both loose tomorrow, right at the end of lunchtime when quite a few are napping still!

That is just the tax filling frustration coming out!

  3. Trees are usually oblivious to risks unless someone tells them though I am told that they talk to each 0ther!🤪

Seriously though even up here in the PdeC there is high risk in times of secheresse and high temperatures. My neighbours land is utterly unmaintained and the mayor wont take any initiative even though the plot is full of old poutres and dried wood. Plus a load of old bottles and glass causes fires!

  4. …….are being allowed back to their jobs having been banned for 18 months or more. Given the rise of covid cases again I wonder if it is a wise decision. Of course, many will have to be retrained.

Oh and some are demanding compensation for their salary loss during the time they were laid off. Personally I have one word only for that but not to be used amongst people of the female sex or gender or those vacillating this week!

  5. Who the heck was driving then, do ghosts have driving licences?

My Ma was terrible; there were places she would not go into as she said she could feel that there had been violence there. The last time was in an art gallery in Abbotsbury. I went back and asked about it and they said that in the room my mum would not go into there had been a murder.

A couple of years ago Angela and I were in Lisbon Castle; there was a room there that I could/ would not go into as I felt an extreme darkness. I asked the guide and he said that yes, there had been much violence there.

Menthe, was the child real or the driver, fancy dress party, kidnap job, sect? Given that you are Welsh I would expect you to feel and see things others do not. Odd people rural farmers!

  6. Well, Sunday afternoon in the village and it is so quiet that even the birdsong seems intrusive. Most of the dogs are napping it seems. Walking in the garden is a true pleasure with the sun just about right.

There is one bird that stands out with its song which sounds like ‘plus vite, plus vite, plus vite’. Does anyone know what it might be?

Even the little devil below is deeply asleep rather than terrorizing everything around her!

  7. A group of students at a college in Genk, Belgium attempted to break up a stand against homopgobia set up in the college cour. They shouted ‘Allah Ouakbar’ and attempted to physically disrupt proceedings and have a go at the volunteers staffing the exhibit.

A sign of future intolerance in education in France too?

  8. Battled my way from the Pas de C yesterday and back in probably the worst road conditions I can remember, continuous hard rain, light mist and the trucks playing dodgems. I gather there was flooding in Paris amongst others. Time for a decemt bit of late Spring, methinks.
