  1. Hi! I know this may be a blast from the past for you, but we also want to get married in our adopted french village. We have had our maison secondaire for nearly 3 years. We vist for all the village 'dos', and more, and we know the Mayor fairly well. We spoke to him at his New Year's bash about possibly marrying in Sept 06, and he suggested I go and speak to him when we go over in Feb, but did indicate lots of translation. We are not French residents, but have lots of Taxe Fonciere, Taxe D'Habitation, EdF. Genearal Des Eaux etc. bills to prove that we are paying our way there! Also, I have just reached 50, and will be retiring there in the next couple of years, although my partner is a little younger, and we have always made it clear that this is our intention. Any advice about what I should be doing here in England, and what I should take over to the Mayor when we go on the 2nd Feb?
  2. When you say the certs cannot be more than 6 months old, is that our original certs or the translation of them?
  3. My partner and I have been together for many years, and bought a house in France almost three years ago. I have just had my 50th birthday, and he is a couple of years behind me, and we think the time is right to get married. When we were over at Christmas we went to the mayor's New Year do, and I started to ask him about the possibility of getting married in his village. He seemed pleasantly surprised, but not altogther sure what documentation etc we would need. He is going to ask for advice, and then when we go over again in February I am going to go and see him, and get more information from him. It then occurred to me that people who read this site may already have gone doewn this route. So, long pre-amble to a very short question, anyone got any advice or information about what we need to get married in France? We are both British nationals.
