  1. Clare...   Not PoolGuy I'm afraid but here's a couple of comments which I hope will help. When we renovated our salt pool a couple of years ago I started to run it as chlorine but am now just about to switch bacl to salt.  The plumbing is ready for it but I still have to buy the cell etc.  I now find that cells are "bipolar" which helps them not get deposits on them and so they should last for loner between big cleans.  So it might be worth seeing if you can introduce one of these though I think the device that controls the cell will also have to be changed. Re getting someone to do the work, there must be a few pisciniers up in your area.  My experience is that these folk are more helpful than the bigger companies. I'll be watching this area with interest as I always have issues with our pool when unattended.  Have just found that Mareva's "Revatop" is good for a quick clean up.  Costs 15 euro for 5l in the Var and that handles a 50K litre pool. Good luck   Hamish
  2. Quantum Thanks for your useful reply.  The "resident for three months" bit for our daughter and her fiance may be a  challenge as they are definitely not residents (though maybe we could blag it!).  The Mairie may be flexible on this though, and we are testing that right now. So your idea of getting a British marriage (Registry office, I guess) and then having a church blessing from a floating Anglican Vicar in France might fit the bill well.  A "floating vicar" conjures up quite an image!  How does one trap these guys, please? 3. Tourangelle and Battypuss...   Thanks for your comments which were very helpful.  Also the link to the other forum has produced some other valuable (if disconcerting  ) info.  The journey begins...! Any further thoughts always welcome.   Hamish   PS - great names, you have...
  4. Having had a maisone secondaire in Var for a few years, our daughter is so taken with la vie francaise that she and her fiance want to get married in Var somewhere!  This sounds a great idea but I am wondering about the legalities and logistics. Does anyone have any experience, contacts or can point me to any Forum posts on this subject, please?
