Hello there I am renovating just like everyone else out here in France. We are due to finish work and open some cottages for rent in 2004. I am doing all the work myself at the moment. I was wondering about taking a small mortgage employing someone and doing the work earlier and opening this year. We are mortgage free at the moment. I was wondering weather anyone had any dealings with the french banks and how they veiwed these type of projects. We have zero income at the moment but are financially sound til our proposed opening in 2004. Also are there mortgage companies in France or are all the mortgages done through banks? Any thoughts would be appreciated... Phil...pondering alternative ideas...

Hello All Just for the record we got caught out by the abbey too, to the tune of about 250. I wrote a letter to them and they wrote back with an excuse so I wrote a stinking nasty letter telling them that they were a typical bank and didn't give a sh*t about the normal hard working person and if it wasn't for people like me they wouldn't have a bank and they very nicely credited my account with 250. Give 'em hell. Never take no for an answer. The best form of defense is attack. P.S I hate banks. Phil
