But perhaps he wouldn't want to do that in case it goes Psst instead of Boom.................!!!

Maybe he doesn't know that's possible.

Maybe there is no-one who isn't afraid to tell him...................

  2. I've also been wondering if the ageing, ex-Soviet, Russian nuclear weapons would actually work.

Not only because of lack of maintenance of the weapons themselves, but of their infrastructure.

Things like regularly maintaining, lubricating and inspecting heavy moving parts, and testing they actually work in simulated operation. Mundane stuff which tends to be ignored because of laziness or simply lack of personnel, skills, and spares.

Apparently many Russian tanks and other machinery broke down in Ukraine, which may be a good indicator. Tank tracks wear down quite rapidly when used on hard surfaces, so repeated ceremonial parades, while perhaps impressive, can be costly in maintenance, if it is even done properly, and spare parts are available.

On a similar note, in another part of the world, in a country where this wouldn't be expected, I know of at least one big ship which went aground on a rocky coast due to lack of maintenance. The engines couldn't be restarted after an electrical failure, because those in charge didn't follow the correct procedure, and neither anchor could be dropped because they had been dogged down, and everything was so rusted they couldn't be released in time. (Bl**dy BIG anchors)

A colleague who had been in a large navy told me that those in charge had decided that the engine scheduled maintenance programme was a load of nonsense, so the work was recorded as carried out and all the highly expensive spares which should have been used were thrown over the side to keep the records in balance.

  3. My post was not publicity. It was simply an attempt to inform the OP of the availabilty in France of the product which they wanted to find here.

For the OP's information - just Google the name of it.

Hey Timothy, why didn't you delete the original reference to the name of the product? Have you joined the woke brigade?

I suggest that you apply your strict rules more to removing posts advertising whorehouses, sex games and other dubious pursuits, which appear regularly here, than to innocent attempts to help people.

Inutile is the term which springs to mind.

  4. Farmers have traditionally constructed dams or ponds to collect surface or rain water, not to pump water up from the ground to store it.

    I can understand the objections.

There is a similar problem in Mallorca, where excessive use of wells for irrigation caused salt water to flow into the water table, making it useless for everyone.

During one summer the tap water was so saline it killed plants which were watered, and damaged piping and equipment.

The sealing system for the drum of our washing machine was corroded so that water got into the gearbox and wrecked the machine.

Now, extremely expensive desalination plants supply much of the potable water.

There will always be extremists and wreckers joining demonstrations; I think is up to the organisers to spot them and keep them out.

To be honest (like ET cleverly pointed out)  I knew nothing about Gary Lineker until 2 days ago.

I don’t really watch UK tv and I certainly do not watch football. I didn’t watch the world cup and had no idea he presented it in the UK.

This Gary Lineker thing just intereted me. So I read around on the subject.

Nothing to do with him…personally….just how society is falling apart at the seems with peeps like Gary running the show.

He is not any better than the people he is complaining about IMHO.

    Im bored now 🙂

You've spewed out your rubbish about Gary Lineker, so why not have a go at Fiona Bruce now - after you have figured out who she is, read around on the subject, and become an expert, of course.

  6. Whilst looking for a holiday apartment around  Roses we visited one in one of the largest, and oldest, blocks there about20 years ago.

There was notice board for residents in the entrance hall, affixed to which was notice advising them that it was forbidden to re-tile their apartments by laying new tiles over the old, as the building was becoming overloaded.

  7. I hope your balcony is strong enough to support a full jacuzzi, which can weigh between 1.5 and 4 tons.

Recently a grossly overloaded balcony fell off an apartment, I believe it was in Narbonne.

Could be quite exciting if one were in the tub 🙄
