  1. We agreed a price on ours about 3 weeks ago and have not yet signed the compromis. We had all the surveys etc done prior to putting it on the market so the time seems to have been taken up with getting all the documentation off the previous notaire, the purchaser perusing the survey reports and the notaire (new one) drawing up power of attorney as we wont be there to sign either deed, apppointing a fiscal rep etc., etc, etc, so in your case you can probably expect it to go on for a while longer, especially if your purchaser is not a cash buyer. And above all remember THIS IS FRANCE where the bureaucrats reign supreme!!

  3. I am confused by what immo is saying because there is NO capital gains on the sale and also the sale price is under €150,000 which I understand is the value at which there is an exemption form CGT?? Grateful if any one has been through a similar process recently or has any light to shed.

[/quote] This story is leading all the news broadcasts here in Ireland, including refs to how the various politicians are positioning themselves in the light of the forthcoming elections.
  5. Hopefully we have sold our French house!! Unfortunately, no capital gains but immoblier is advising that even so we need to get a certificate/indemnity against future tax liability from this lot- SARF : Société Accréditéede Représentation Fiscale, and that this could cost up to €1,500. Has anyone any experience in this and are we obliged to obtain this indemnity?
