  1. Some one has alsready asked this - but I couldn't see a reply so if anyone can help -  is there a ' mark all as read' feature to delete the unread items list so they actually only show items since previous visit? Thanks for any answers, in advance.
  2. I would just like to say that I have only found the new forum today as I had stopped visiting the old style forum as I couldn't see who had posted, couldn't access 'posts since last visit '  etc  -despite trying to follow instructions to correct the problem. I'm pleased to see the new style and can now see who has replied etc so - Welcome back Living France to my favourites list! I'll llet you know if I have any problems as I go along. Thanks again.
  3. If anyone can help again- recently I have lost the Control Panel, poster's names, view recent topics option and no doubt other things as well. I know this has been covered recently and I've tried many times to work through the list given but to no avail. I am using Windows XP and pointers to where to make adjustments in French would be great as I couldn't marry up the english explanations to the French headings in my Norton Internet security / Antivirus 2004. Thanks in anticipation.
  4. Thanks for all the replies. I have tried to work through them as follows – from SPQ -  the speakers cable is plugged in to the correct socket, my son took the back of the computer lat night and said he couldn’t see any obvious unconnected wires. Jeremy – the settings isn’t on mute but don’t know about administrator mode where would I find that?  We have tried another set of speakers and they didn’t work either and there hasn’t been any accidents with the speakers so don’t think they are damaged. Tel – the guy that installed the new graphics card  has supposedly done all he had to make it work and my son didn’t notice any unattached wires when he had the back off yesterday but it could be the cable from the sound card to the CD rom. Perhaps I’m going have to take it to him again as we really don’t know where to look. Gyn Paul – we are using Windows XP. When I plugged a headphone into a little pale green socket marked ‘out’ I could hear the music from a CD playing and could control the volume with the volume control and the mute worked! Still nothing from the speakers though. I’ll try any more suggestions as they come, if not then as Jeremy said I may need to take it to some one else for them to work through all the possibilities they can think of. Thanks again.
  5. I'm looking for a little help please. We have a HP pavilion 7955 and it is working well apart from the fact that there isn't any sound from the speakers. We recently had the hard drive cleaned , emptied and re loaded when my son had a new graphics card installed and possibly it is since then there hasn't been any sound. If you listen carefully the computers 'box' is making the music etc but nothing from the speakers. I have tried going though all the panneau de configuration sections relating to speakers but as yet haven't had any luck. Appreciate any ideas other wise it's back to the computer repair guy - again!
  6. I received an e mail from Ryan Air this morning regarding the new flights but I think as far as Dinard is concerned it isn't a new flight route it is actually replacing Dinard -Stansted after the 11th October. Let's hope that there are coach or rail links into Luton for those wishing to use public transport.
  7. Congratulations to your daughters Val and Miki. Val ,you asked were there any more of us waiting for results. Well our youngest son received his Brevet results yesterday and he has passed and will now go to Lyce. Our elder son has taken his BAC Franais and is waiting for the results which are out next Thursday. He hopes to find them on the internet so I was interested in your comments about the problems with that. He also takes his driving test on the same day and it happens to be his 18th Birthday! So a momentous day one way or the other for him. This time next year we will be in your shoes, looking at universities etc but this year, hopefully, they can both relax and enjoy the summer after next week.
  8. You could try in your Yellow Pages under Restaurants: Fournitures. Or under Cafs, bars, brasseries: Matriel et fournitures. In our Pages Jaunes there are several places listed under these headings. At our local fete they use a very large caftire so I think you should be able to find a tea urn. Good Luck.
  9. I don't know the shops in this area but have spent a weekend there recently. I did notice you have a BUT and our local outlet has a selection - it depends the type you want. May be worth a look. Fiona
  10. Dave, Can't answer all your questions but I can say that we bought one recently ( an air rifle) from a shop in Pontivy for our son. I asked if a licence was needed and the answer was no. The gun had to be put in my name as our son is under eighteen and I did have to provide proof of identity and residency. The details were then registered in a book in the shop and I had to sign in the alloted space. This implies perhaps that the officials like to know where the air rifles are but don't actually produce licences for them. If you visit before your move perhaps you could enquire in your local gun shop. Fiona
