  1. HELP!! We have had our heating oil delivered for the last five years by Promo Energies, (intermarché) However, when I rang them up yesterday I was informed that they no longer delivered to our area ??!! I rushed to the yellow pages and phoned a couple of local places (Gorron) but they seemed to be very expensive. None of our friends locally or neighbours use oil for their central heating....I wondered if anyone on this forum could help out with a few suggestions? We live between Le Teilleul and Gorron, just outside Desertines. Thanks! (The log burner keeps the kitchen nice and cosy but the rest of the house is cooling down fast) Marushka xx
  2. I would be grateful for any advice on this subject! For three years I dutifully dug up my dahlias in late autumn aand stored them in the attic for replanting the following summer.Last year I left a few in the ground and despite the severity of the weather they survived and are  still flowering profusely at this moment (31st )October!) Was I just lucky? Should I risk it again? ...and what shoild I do with my canna lilies that have just stopped flowering??? (I live in the north of Mayenne...)
  3. I'm wondering if anyone on this forum has used 'Eco Spot' tick and fliea treatment on their cats? I purchased some from a branch of Bricomarche recently. I've used Frontline on my cats for years with no problems but this seemed to be a more 'biologically friendly product'....well ..I'm glad I only used it on one of the cats my extra large and tough Maine Coon because it caused sores in all the spots where it had touched the skin of her back....thankfully these are now healing..(after two weeks!)
  4. Does anyone know of flights to Bristol from northern France (Paris Dinard etc? )I have a friend who is flying to Bergerac in August from Bristol (she lives in Bath) is then travelling by train to visit us in 53 (mayenne)and wants to return home by air to Bristol. Will this be feasible?? Thanks (in anticipation!!) Marushka
  5. Since my last posting on the 24th June (One more plea!) I am very pleased to write that one more of the kittens abandoned on my doorstep has found a new home. The weeniest of the litter (we have been calling 'Little Spot')went yesterday leaving us with his sister the most beautiful and sweetest natured of them all. Because she is female no one appears to want her...we adore her and would love to keep her but my neurotic rescue cat( A massive Norwegian Forest) wants her for his dinner....._ She is a delightful little cat and deserves a kind and loving home. Hoping to hear from someone... We are in North Mayenne 53 North of Gorron. Marushka.

  13. Just a PS to my previous posting 'Kind Homes Needed' I should have said that we are in 53 between Gorron and le Teileul. I'll also add that there is one female and two male kittens..I'd love to keep them but our cats are already out on strike!! Still hoping to hear from some kind people ....Why can't people get their animals neutered????????????..I suppose they reckon that they'll just dump their problems (in this case kitten shaped) on other people!!!

Considered myself lucky to have found a good doctor so easily in France...unfortunately a few months ago he left the practice to go and live near his family in Nantes!I am wondering if anyone can recommend a doctor in either Fougerolles de Plessis or Le Teilleul? (If possible with a sense of humour.....) Thanks (in anticipation!) Marushka xx

  20. Last June ( can hardly believe a whole year has passed!!)We purchased a French Peugeot van in Laval...and now it's due for it's control technique ...Problem: there is a small (about 4inches long) crack at the bottom of the windscreen. It was there when we purchased the van and hasn't got any bigger in a year. Unfortunately the windscreen is mentioned on the CT document as being in a 'mauvaise etat'...referring I suppose to this crack. I am a bit worried as to what will happen re this at the CT....any advice greatly appreciated!!! Marushka xx

  23. I wonder if there are any other ex teachers living in France who get their pensions paid into French bank accounts??? I've been resident in France for two years and the French tax people are chasing me for back tax when I've already been taxed at source in UK and have written to explain this to them...I would be very grateful to hear from anyone who has solved this problem!
