Thanks Euge I do use on online translator for this stuff but some of it still doesn't make sense! For example there is no place on the form for a barn. You can have a garage, a cellar, a wine cave and attic, but no barn!! I did, however contact the offices by email and was pleasantly surprised to be able to sort it all out in 3 goes on a Friday afternoon !

So not just for new builds then :-) Anyone know where I can get a translation - technical french is very hard for us beginners !!

I'm convinced there is a large warehouse full of 'bad art' which is manadatory for all hotel owners to purchase from. And don't forget the obligatory shower head which never stays in position.

Our heating engineer showed us the setup in his house - 4 squ. m. of panels heating a 300l tank - the tank water was at 75 degrees and this was 2 weeks ago and it is only heated by the panels. He ran a tap for us to demonstrated how hot the water is and 75 is HOT!!!!

We do not live in France as yet. Our heating will be the same as yours as we have an oil fired boiler at the moment Alex

We haven't installed it yet - just getting the quote from the heating engineer. Our house has a 'monument historique' within 500m, hence the planning permission. Alex

Anyone using solar for heating water ? When we went to our mairie to check for planning permission - they said this was the first time anyone had asked ! Alex
