1.
At BM Accueil, explain that you have lost the original sales ticket. Get BM to reissue (  rééditer in french) the sales ticket; credit card debit will give name & date, etc of original purchase. Then with  replacement sales ticket consult BM SAV on repair under manufactures guarantee, presumably 2 years. PS Just noticed you paid by cheque; your cheque book stub will have the date of the purchase; bank statement will have date of debit to your account. Perhaps if you have also lost this as well, you may need to visit your bank to obtain supporting documentation.
Thanks Pachapapa..I have the cheque book stub and I can obtain a statement if need be. I am also presuming the electronic system of "carte fidelite" for the store will have exact details of the transaction.
  2.
OK, it was worth a try. [;-)]
Thanks anyway, it was just the experiences of trying to have something of that value repaired under guarantee, but without the receipt, that I was looking for.
  3.
If you have only used it a couple of times are you sure you are trying to start it correctly? I have a similar mower, a Bricomarche own brand, but it actually an Electrolux model, made in USA. Most of these types of mowers are basically the same. In order to start mine, it has to be in neutral, with the brake set ON, the mower deck switch OFF (ie pressed in) and you have to be sat on the seat (safety microswitch under the seat). Good luck.
I have used it to cut grass a couple of times but used it for other "mini tractor" things, probably about half a dozen times. This problem has only happened recently. I have done all the things you suggest, but that has no effect. I do think it is something to do with the neutral gear.
  4.
Do you have a bank or credit card statement for the transaction, showing the trading name of the shop?
As my post says, I paid by cheque.
  5. Continuing on with my consumer crusade with faulty French goods........ At the beginning of May last year, I bought a ride on lawn mower at 1,400 Euros from BricoMarche. I paid by cheque and received points for the transaction on my Bricomarche fidelity card. Nearly a year on and only having been used a couple of times, I find that the mower will not start. It is not a battery problem...this type of mower will only start up when in neutral gear. The mower will not go into neutral and so will not start. I wish to have the mower repaired under its 2 year guarantee. The standard guarantee paperwork came with the mower as opposed to a printed off guarantee at the till, but is not personalised to me in any way. HOWEVER, as we had moved to France at the time of the mower purchase, and with everything in an uproar!...I have either lost or mislaid the till receipt. I can obviously prove that I made a 1,400 euro transaction on a particular date and as I said, this is backed up by the transaction on my Bricomarche fidelity card. Has anyone had any experience of returning a faulty item for repair under guarantee without the receipt, but with the evidence of cheque payment and fidelity card transaction/points?
  6. Having read all the posts, I too now question whether the two products are the same despite what the doctor said. I will just go and ask him and get a definitive answer to my question.
  7. Thank you for all the responses, I only know that my doctor prescibed me Lamaline when he received my NHS prescription record (which my UK GP gave me before I left for here). My French doctor told me that Lamaline is the French equivalent of Co-dydramol and there is nothing else here similar. Asking the question again....does anyone know if a French doctor will write a prescription that will result in a UK pharmacy dispensing a UK branded drug?
  8.
I think you should ask your French doctor why you are getting different results with the two products.  Perhaps the active ingredients are in different dosages - your doctor or a French pharmacist could check this for you. Bernice
No, same dosages, same composition...not as effective. The Lamaline comes in a soft capsule but co-dydramol is a tablet. Lamaline is not available in tablet form here and lamaline is the only product here in France that is the "same" as co-dydramol.
  9. I do not know if this is possible, or acceptable here in France, but basically, I am prescribed a painkiller by my French doctor. It is a painkiller that I was prescribed in the UK before I came over here a couple of years ago. For some reason, although the active ingredient is the same, the French painkillers do not work the same. I have compared the actions of both drugs as I still had a few tablets of the UK medicine and it is definitely a difference in the medications, rather than a difference in the effect on my body. I have spoken to a pharmacist friend in the UK and have been told that as long as I have a doctors prescription (NHS, Private (EU)) etc, the UK medicine can be dispensed. My question is this.....would a French doctor provide a prescription for a UK product. The drug concerned is a minor, inexpensive one, but only available on prescription in both countries no less! In France, the product is called Lamaline, which is co-dydramol. In the UK, the product is simply called Co-Dyramol, but not available here in that name. Anyone have any experience of obtaining a French prescription for dispensing in the UK? I thought I would ask this forum before I ask my doctor.
  10.
He didn't get a refund though did he, he got a credit note. Now that annoys me as then one has to buy get something else from a shop that has sold faulty goods. I bought a skirt in a shop in France the summer before I left, when I got it home there was a big fault in it that I hadn't noticed. I took it back and they said, credit note only. I agreed, that their policy was credit notes if someone took something back that they didn't like, but this was different and that they had sold me something faulty and that they hadn't got my size in a replacement and nothing I wanted. I saw the Manager and got my money back. Also these credit notes usually have dates to be used by, on them. Cash does not.
Sorry idun, my fault fopr not explaining properly...I asked for a credit note as I needed other items from the store later that day. I am certain, as Chancer says, that I would have beeen offered a refund if i had specifically asked for it.
  11. Bit the bullet and went to Bricoman today, unboxed faulty sprayer in hand. Explained situation to English speaking customer services lady, no questions asked and then she wrote "defecteuse" in thick felt pen on the side of the unit and gave me a credit note for the value. Simple.....2 minute transaction and no comment on the missing original packing. Full praise to Bricoman, cannot fault their Customer Service at all.
  12. I recently purchased a 10 litre weed sprayer (pulverisateur) from Bricoman, the type you can wear on your back. However after one use, I find that all the seals either fail to tighten, or leak, ie spray weedkiller all over the place, particularly down your back! The item is obviously faulty, dangerous to use and unfit for purpose. Unfortunately,  I have thrown out the packaging (box). Can I still return the item to Bricoman for a refund? I am aware that returns, even for faulty goods, without the original packaging are very much dependent on store policy (or so I read on this site!) Anyone with experience of returning goods to Bricoman without original packaging?
  13. Thanks to all. I have loads of Chambord and use it in cocktails. Since I live in the Loire area, I thuoght I would try and find out where they made it so I could visit. This is obviously now not the case, thanks to Pachapapa`s enquiry, but that will not stop me enjoying the stuff.....
  14. The raspberry liqueur in the round bottle.....I have been looking online to find out where in France it is made, but it is deceptively secretive! Does anyone know where exactly it is produced and if there are tours and tastings etc?

    Mutuelle problem

Thank you sweet17 and Sunday Driver... Sweet17- the card has tiers payant on it. I have used the card for blood tests etc, with no problem. It is only the pharmacy and doctors appointments that a problem is apparent. Sunday Driver - the February appointment  resulted in a 7 euro 50c refund from CPAM a couple of days later, that is all. According to my cover levels with the mutuelle, I am covered up to 125% for doctors, consultants etc appointments. I am presuming the 7 euro 50c refund referred to was the refund from CPAM, but not including the refund from the mutuelle.
  16. I have been having problems with my mutuelle, which I have subscibed to for the last 10 months since moving here. The first problem I noticed was when I went to collect my monthly prescription from the pharmacy, to be told that my mutuelle had not paid their part for several months. I contacted my mutuelle by email, in my best French, and they rectified the situation directlly with the pharmacy, and apologised. I then contacted the mutuelle again as I had not received any refund for the last 2 appointments with my medecin (only 7 euros 50c direct from CPAM for one appointment). They sent me an email regarding the situtation, which I do not really understand. I get the impression they wish me to do their work for them, and to take the 80 euros a month cotisations for myself and my wife. The reply is as folows.... I am not sure if the fault lies with me, CPAM or the mutuelle. Any advice? Many thanks.
  17.
Hi all We have a Villager and sometimes it has run really hot, you know when you can smell the heat, never used a thermometer but it sounds a sensible thing  to do, just to say our baffle plate is fine, just over 3 years use, contact villager I'm sure they will sort it. Please let us know the outcome of your dealings with Villager Bon chance
Response from Villager was very poor. They initially said that they agreed with the outlet where I purchased the burner in that I must have been using the burner "too hot" (although the thermometer I purchased say differently). They do not want to know, and have not even replied to my last email when I explained that the thermometer indicates temperature at average levels. They were willing to sell me a new baffle plate though!
  18. Hi, yes, there was a phone line installed but it had not been used for several years. The previous owner used their mobiles only, hence no landline use. I called France Telecom from the UK, their English speaking helpline and the line was re-activated by an engineer some days later. I presently have Orange (France Telecom) Netplus package- phone and ADSL broadband. It was a sinch and problem free. I do not recall being asked for copies of our passports though.
  19.
Which make and model of autofeed screwdriver please? So that I do not repeat your mistake.
Makita 6844 .....highly recommended piece of kit!
  20.

Thanks for the replies, it is much appreciated.....silly prices in comparison with UK prices. I would still save about 60% on French prices if I have them sent over from the UK, eg UK supplier about £7 per 1000... one of the French suppliers 35 euros per 1000!
...Why don't you do that??
I will, now that I have seen French prices! The reason for the post was that I have never seen them here in France and after several helpful forum members placed links on here, I made the decision to keep buying them from the UK. I hope that explains everything to you EricD!
  21.
Drywall - and I thought that this was a forum for English speakers. John
Check out the link...that is what they are called!

Does anyone know where I can buy the screws, as above, for the screwdriver? I usually source them from the UK, but surely they must be available here in France......surely!!!!
  24. Yes, I did this recently from the UK by telephone. Call the France Telecom English speaking helpline (Option 2 - Customer Services), from the UK, the number is 00 33 969 36 39 00.
  25. Since my last post, I have purchased a stove thermometer and continued using the burner as we usually do. We find that it does not even reach the average temperature, so suspect a faulty baffle plate....
