1.
take yer card out dog - if it's expired due to cancelled subscription it's no use anyway! If you take it out the messages will stop.
Not true, if you take out the SKY card now you will lose a  few channels  (5, Fiver etc).  SKY are changing their cards which is why you get the message. When SKY have completed the change to the new cards, you will lose those channels until they become free to air. To get rid of the message just push back up[8-|]
 2. "It is less sensible because we no longer use horses in the main to pull our carts." There are 65 million French people, of whom those that drive, lets say half, understand the rule, the concept and the procedure.  There are 250 000 brits in France of which a small minority think its a bad system.[:P] "Priority to the right can only be expected to work safely where the driver on the major road is aware of the existence of the minor road  and that such road has priority and said driver observes the rule. I would just add that the most dangerous situation is where a hidden, banks or bushes, small side road or track emerges onto a straight major road where there have been no signs and the lack of visibility of white lines or otherwise. Someone new to the area would be unaware of the danger." Surprisingly that is what the sign is for[:'(]  Same as for a tight bend etc in the UK "for the benefit of strangers".[blink]  No reasonable speed on the major road would be low enough to avoid the risk of a potential accident........  Again that is what the sign is for, you could sasy the same about pedestrian crossings, but these roads are not, in my experience,  found one after the other and are in fact few and far between on "main" roads.
 3.
So you think you'll get straight answers from Blair do you? Well, you must have watched some different interviews with him over the years than I have.
No I didn't say that, I said why don't you wait for the enquiry instead predicting the outcome and  probably like the editor of the Mail already writing your own headlines?  Of course he isn't going to admit he was duped by the US or suspected the evidence was dodgy but you never know, he might just admit he would have gone in anyway and the world is a better place for it, who can prove him wrong?   If he does admit he invaded without a UN mandate where would that leave him and Bush?  For trial for what and where exactly and by whom? Whilst there they at it they can do Blair for invading Kosova and getting the murdering Sebs out of there , Blair had no UN mandate for that either but that was OK wasn't it? Quite frankly, the media coverage of this enquiry and particularly Blairs day in court is downright ridiculous, it just fills their day, it won't mine.[:(]
 4. Thanks for that Derek and Bugsie[:$], won't need to bother to sit in front of the TV all day today.  Perhaps all "trials" should be like that, guilty as charged, no evidence required or produced, trial by right wing media, good old British justice eh!!   I wonder if old chemical Ali would still be Minister for population control in Iraq if the Allies had not deposed Sadam and Israel still surviving?  Truth is we will never know..........[Www]
 5.
Am I an accident waiting to happen?
Yes you are[:$],  Priority from the rght is there for a reason even if it is a farm track, often these roads have limited visibilty to the "main roads" hence the priority, when you see the black cross sign its up to you to exercise caution. Of course with busier roads, sensible motorists are not going to fly out of a farm track which has priority, but legally they can and you would be 100% in the wrong if they hit you.   In many towns this is also the norm, and also applies on many roundabouts in the bigger towns, its rarely signposted except for the crossed out yellow triangle by the vilage/town name.
 6. Living in France, Gary where have you been,?
 7. As Tony Blair has not yet given evidence to the enquiry, how can you or anyone else make a judgement on what he is going to say?.  Hope you never sat on a Jury whilst you were in the UK!![:P]
 8. With the E-mail scanners on SFR, orange and AVG 9, messages with viruses don't even get to your inbox, you get a message saying that a message was received containing a virus and it has been deleted. Not sure how many on here are with SFR but recently they did an update to their virus database and that decided that all emails sent between midnight and 00-25 were corrupted and deleted them all.  It involved thousands of E mails!![:-))] All we got was a message saying who it was from and that it had been deleted,  SFR apologised and suggested that people contacted the senders to request a re-send as the messages could not be retrieved.[blink]
 9.
nounours posted whilst I was composing.
He told me 90% of the PCs he has in are virus problems and most have AVAST or an outdated AVG
So is that 10% Avast (up to date/outdated ?) and 90% outdated AVG or what, I'm sorry but such unqualified generalisations are really meaningless. He told me that all the ones with viruses had Avast free installed, some had AVG but not the latest version, however, ALL had viruses. My 2 had Avast updated daily with that annoying voice!!  Of course there are opinions on virus protection, my neighbour has Avast and has had no problems - to date, but the man in the PC shop, in a town not that far from you, said AVAST was not effective for full virus protection and from the rows of PCs he had I think that personal experience review from a professional is good enough for me!!
10. Come on Ernie, you claim to be an expert in Computers, tell me why when I had AVAST latest version and updated daily and I did do not open any E mails I had not one but two PCs infected with the same virus as the OP?  I'll tell you the answer, AVAST is not effective and should not be relied on, if you have not had a virus you are on borrowed time.  If you think AVAST is effective, endorse it, I'll reinstall it and then when it gets infected again I'll send you the 200€ bill for cleaning it.  For the money conscious, don't worry   AVG 9 is still free from French download sites[:P]
 11. I can tell you from a bitter experience similar to that of the OP that AVAST is as useful as chocolate tea pot.  I had it installed and updated on both my PCs and both got infected by a nasty series of Viruses that took 10 days to clean professionally.  Both viruses got in by clicking on different sites via google   Yes AVAST is OK, if you just use it for trusted sites but do any sort of searches using unknown sites or research and you will not be protected as it allows downloaders to get in and then when you try and clean them off they go and you have had it. On one it was loading AVG to replace AVAST that triggered the virus.  The guy who repaired my PCs had installed AVG 9 free,  Spybot and C- Cleaner. He told me 90% of the PCs he has in are virus problemms and most have AVAST or an outdated AVG.  Of course you can follow Ernie's advice and use AVAST but I wouldn't, not now!
