3. I am not sure but I believe the 90 from 110 sections of the ring road in Toulouse are only a summer anti-pollution measure, but there are a number of parts that are 90 like the one by the Midi.but we are getting a long way from the A16 aren't we[:D]
4.

.  I can't see Europe getting their act together on the speeding thing either this year or next - can anybody else - really?[Www]
I am currently chancing my arm with a PV from Belgium, they certainly have access to the French matriculation database but cross border enforcement action? well we will have to wait and see, if it is anything like my ongoing stand against AXA it will be a long time before I can be sure one way or the other, I
I wonder if AXA's has people reading French Forums, I bet they do[:D][:D]

8. "I dont have cruise control but choose to drive at 100kmh for economy and to wind up the truckers with speed limiters" Why would that wind up trruckers?  The black smoke from your exhaust trying to do 100kph[blink]

10. In a UK reg'd car if you were going to be fined you would have been stopped farther on.  There is no reciprocal agreement for speeding penalties for UK cars in France or French cars in the UK[:P]...........  Yet The A26 is also popular with the gendarmes on Sundays for mobile checks from lay-bys and bridges in both directions near Calais.  Probably practicising for the summer[:D]
11. ..... Canceled the email and all was well. You sure all is well John, have you tried opening Word or Excel?  That bloody thing has many variants and sits on a lot of sites, springing out with it's you have a virus etc.  I just spent a few hours getting it off a friend's PC, it was not easy as nothing like AVG or C cleaner would open and it prevented a system restore as well.  The problem  was called windowsexplorer.exe and it stopped any file with that file extension opening.  Fortunately SPYBOT dowloaded from a memory stick found it and removed it and after that all was well. This was another virus that Avast Free failed to spot.[:'(]
12. Because it was addressed to you specifically and not multiple recipients?
13.
Thanks for that Mr Sunday. Just while we are on topic... do we register first with a local doctor (medecin traitant) who sends a CERFA12485 to CPAM, and thus obtain a Social Security number (we have E121s)...or do we, as you say, contact CPAM, who will give us a Social Security number, then we see the doctor? YES Would I also be correct in assuming that this process does not happen overnight,  You are covered from the moment you submit your E121.  The paper Attestation may take a few days and your Carte Vitale which is an identity card and means of automated reimbursement may take longerbut  you have to submit photos for that, but you are covered. The Attestation is the most important  If you have to see a doctor you have to pay 22€ anyway and you can submit your brown form for reimbursement to CPAM when you get your SS Number.  When you get your Attestation you can get a Mutuelle organised, personally I would not use anty English speaking agent as you pay through the nose for the privilege, Groupama are one that opffers the best value and are efficient with refunds, but others may have other Mutuelles they wish to recommend.  and that we have to depend on EHIC until this happens?   NO! any EHIC issued whilst you were in the UK is redundant as soon as you apply to join the French system. Would it not be the case then that we would have no affiliation with the UK NHS at this time (because we have moved to France permanently)?   Correct, but due to a recent change, you will get your EHIC from the UK from now on.  There are two other threads about that
14. So you have never used your fidelity points then[8-)]
15. Not just for me, the bloke in the next house was reading it[:D] No I agree, a word in the ear and all that .[:P] The one I mentioned is very similar, it says there has been an overpayment of X €, to confirm this and get a reimbursement, enter your orange password and confirm your bank details.  They are getting better at forging the Orange logo and page set up, just need to learn to spell[Www] There has also been a torrent of fake Paypal security update E mails recently, so its worth repeating if its not addresssed to you specifically its not genuine and nobody asks for your personal details to be sent in an E mail.
16. Because we are on the right package for our needs?  SFR are currently offering a neuf box, telephone line and free calls to fixed numbers for around 35€ a month, if you have the TV its even cheaper.  We were paying close to that to Orange for the internet alone without the FT line and calls on top.  Phone them up!!
17.
I have never been charged for receiving a call from outside France. I get loads of calls from the US, Canada and Australia.
Is that on a mobile Bob?.  You do get charged with many French  mobile companies for receiving calls and texts in France from abroad, but not to a fixed line.
18. OK WAS this the widest post ever?[:D]. Also covered earlier in here http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/2003058/ShowPost.aspx
19.
Thanks, Quillan and nounours - excuse me for being thick but the ebay site does not look like their auction sites - presumably this is just an ad and stays there for the requisite number of days? Having looked at the other ads they are just that - or am I missing something? pb
My previous post indicated that on ebay.fr this is just an advert, no bids. Its the sane as the way some people advertise cars etc on the UK eBay site,  In France there is also the boncoin as you have found and its no different to that, you sell your house by making your ad as eyecatching as you can.
20. French eBay sells properties its free, no bids, just an advert Go to http://annonces-immobilier.ebay.fr/ , it can't hurt to have a go can it?
21. You sure what the bloke said?  Its been said on here before that some CT centres recommend a small collision with a hammer or "stones thrown by kids" as the cure to having to pay legitimately for new LHD lights.  Given that they are around 150€ a pair on ebay from Germany, is it really worth fiddling the insurance? You pay in the long run anyway as claims rise, premiums rise[blink]   EDIT  Jut as an additional point, I just read my guide to my car insurance from Pacifica  and there is no mention of headlights being covered in the same way as windscreens.  With a 150€ excess on collision damage, what is to gain from claiming, you pay it back through higher premiums over the next few years[8-)]
22. It could also be a minor problem that a reboot might fix.  When viewing Fiver and SKY 3 now,a message comes up saying we will lose these soon, but have not yet.  What has happened to us and others is when there has been a sudden power cut, when the box comes straight back up, it has reverted to London BBC and ITV settings, and not the Scottish settings it had.  The "cure", is to pull out the plug and leave it for 5 minutes or so and it then "goes back" of the border[:D].
23. Can only speak from personal experience, my first tax payment on account for 2009 was taken on 15 February.
24. Reminds me of the story of the soldiers on parade, "Oh look, mum, everybody is iut of step exceot little Jimmy Mc Bride[:P]
25. I still refer to the RD Gardening Manual and the Repair Manual to this day, they were and are excellent reference books, though some of what is in the Repair Manual would be illegal to do now particularly for electrical work[;-)].  I think the RD itself became outdated possibly by the rise in "celebrity"  and fewer people wanting to read about real life, well as the Americans saw it anyway. I was put off by their aggressive selling of stuff I didn't want through the Prize draw avenue and finally after three demands for payment of a book I had returned to them,  I told them to go forth and multiply and never heard a word from them again. Incidentally its only the UK arm that has gone into administration and its possible a buyer might be found.
