1. we have a Ligne Résidence Secondaire set up which has been brilliant, as we are going to be spending a lot more time in France this year I have been looking at France telecoms options and see that they do a 2 hour and unlimited call package - can anyone tell me if this would include international calls to UK. Also would like to have internet connected as well and would love to hear from others as to cheapest and best way to have this.
2. We put new windows at rear of property and had no problem with planning permission, just time it took for planning to go through, ours was near the local church and needed their permission as well. Was advised even at rear of property it still needed permission.
3.
The nearest French equivalent is the Acte Authentique de Vente. The notaire handling the sale will indeed keep a copy. For most purposes the attestation which you have is ample evidence of ownership. If you need evidence of residence, then an avis d'imposition is probably best, alternatively a titre de sejour (which most Europeans don't bother with any longer, but although not compulsory is still useful).
Was wondering this too - we have been forwarded the Acte Authentique de Vente but didn't realise this was actually the house deeds - very disappointing compared to what we get in UK, as I thought we may have got some history of our property. So still don't know who past owners of the house were or what date our house was actually built?
4. We have been invaded by a large family of Loirs and they are making our lives a living hell - would welcome ideas on how to get rid of them.
5. We purchased our property in March and have just had the taxe fonciere bill forwarded to us from previous owner. Can't make head or tail of bill as speak very little French, it says 2010 on heading so presume it is for this year, but as we have only just received it am wondering if its next years? If it is this years are we liable to pay the whole amount?
6. I will be in France for about 3 months and will need a french sim and also will need to be able to access emails and a few web pages. Can anyone give me up to date info on what would be best and any other info please
7. I want to sign up for the subscription Residence Secondary Line and it asks for either your insurance certificate indicating the nature of your home, or a tax document indicating the address of principal residence (1st page of tax return). Just wondering if others that have done this have just sent insurance paper for main house - just a bit confused as don't have tax return? or what it means by 'nature of your home'
8. We are buying several bits of flat packed furniture and are will need to use a removal van. Came across lamaison who offer shopping service - if anyone has used them would love a pm on it
9. I have checked again with company who have quoted for work and they say that there's no need to drill our beams as they're only being attacked by vrillettes and not by the the big one capricone (which require injection). Yet on the diagnostic report we got with the Compris it says that we have capricorn holes? Now I don't know what to do
10. Anyone know a good english speaking vet near Pompadour please, and if so do they open on Saturday mornings?
11. According to diagnostic report received when buying house, it say wood shows no termites, but some wood has shown signs of petities vrilettes, grosses vrillettes and capricorns. We have had a quotation from a company for treating wood of about £1600 and has a 10 year guarantee. Its for an area of about 150 sq metres. Is this about right sort of price. The other thing is that they didn't speak English but we think the method of treatement was by applying a gel to the wood.
12. We have all money now in French bank account for buying house, its now 2 weeks to signing and still haven't had notaires invoice, just an estimated figure in the compris. Beginning to panic - so would love to hear from members regarding this last house buying stage - what is the best and quickest way (as well as safest) for us to get money from bank to Notaire and how do we do it? This is all new and we're stumbling around in dark here, we have spoken to bank in terrible French and got the gist that we have to write to them to organise transfer, but not sure if we understood them correctly.
13. just bought a house that is showing woodworm in roof timbers - anyone know of a company in Dordogne area that is reasonable to treat timbers and what the likely cost would be for a small 2 bed house.
