We just got a Samsung E1150 for about 25€ from Amazon.fr. They have a wide selection of 'désimlocké' phones - ie no forfait.http://www.amazon.fr/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_4?__mk_fr_FR=%C5M%C5Z%D5%D1&url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=t%E9l%E9phone+portable&sprefix=t%E9l%E9Hope it works, otherwise just go to Amazon.fr -> téléphones portables.@+Andrew

Hello,Do you not have a contact telephone number, or email address of a member of staff - probably those of a teacher of English ?I ask, because at my wife's lyçée in Guérande, the assistants always contacted her, and she had a permanent annual arrangement whereby the assistant would be met and welcomed on arrival, and lodged with one of the teachers or colleagues to begin with. When they were settled, they could then look for their own accommodation, always helped and guided by the teachers. Some shared with other assistants in the area.Maybe they were/are lucky, and it's certainly a far cry from my experience of arriving at the massive door of a Napoleonic lyçée in Albi in 1967 to find that noone was expecting me or even knew I existed ! Happy days - it got better, really..Good luck, anyway !@+Andrew 44

If you feel that 'elle a très peur' is not strong enough, just add 'très'.'Elle a très très très peur...'@+Andrew 44

Convenable = suitable or appropriate. Sometimes 'reasonable', 'proper' or 'decent'.So not 'convenient' ('commode', 'pratique' or in your example 'bien situé pour les magasins/près des commerces').Try your favourite dictionary for further details.. [:)]@+Andrew 44

Sorry C de L, I didn't see your contribution before I responded to Q !I agree entirely. On a brief visit to a US college many years ago, it was clear that the Sports ethic predominates, and that young ladies were seriously involved in Soccer.@+Andrew 44

Or even '.... My God, what have I done to heaven/the gods, that I should be seen as the lowest of the low ?'. Or maybe '...considered/taken for...' the lowest of the low.I don't know 'seen' or 'considered' by whom, as I don't have the context. By his/her friends ? the world ?Your choice.HTH@+Andrew 44

Looks like Wooly was right !En général, EF et SF sont les localisations du modèles, même machine, autre région. Je ne sais pas ce qu'elles signifient exactement par contreFound on an HP forum :http://h30478.www3.hp.com/t5/Mat%C3%A9riel-pour-ordinateurs/Pavilion-dm1-2140-ef-ou-2140-sf/td-p/39029So evidently no difference, if the LED v LCD screen is a red herring.....@+

Your word is my command :http://www.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-14054365-avis-hp-dv6-1240-ef-ou-sf-moniteur-ledNot your model, though.Brightview will just be their brand name for the display. If they're both LED, then you can't lose.... and I don't know any other ef/sf distinctions.@+
-
Found via Google on 'Comment ça marche' - le ef est avec un écran led, l'autre (le sf) avec un écran normal (brightview). So EF has an LED backlit screen, while SF is 'normal'- LCD ?LED is supposed to be better - more eco-friendly and runs cooler, like TVs.It seems to be a good choice.HTHAndrew 44

Hello Dave,I don't remember the TV setup for Freebox v4, as I never used it, but assuming the Free screen is the same as or similar to FB v5 HD, then :Go to the Paramètres screen, where you will see boxes for Informations Générales - this a basic diagnostic of what's working or not TV, phone, TNT...Also Informations Réseau which gives Etat, ADSL, Réseau and Wifi. The ADSL screen gives the current débit up and down, atténuation etc.I hope you can find the necessary diagnostique from this.Andrew 44

'Cela ne passera jamais'Could be said by optimists contesting Guéant's speed trap ideas - 'That will never be accepted' - 'They'll never get away with that' - as in that idea/proposal/motion will never pass/be passed/ will never get a majority vote.Could you please tell us what this text is that you're translating. As others have stated, 'Context is All'. Odd extracts are untranslatable.Good luck,Andrew 44

Certainly won't do any harm, and costs nothing ! Unless their problem is inside their house (check internal cables, plugs, sockets and filters....).
