NormanH
In today's Guardian there is a selection of poems about getting older chosen by Carol Ann Duffy. Some of us might be touched by some of them.http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2010/mar/13/carol-ann-duffy-poems-ageing
Gardengirl
Thanks for that link, Norman; it's good to have them collected together on my favourites list. Some I already knew, some I know I'll turn to again. I particularly enjoy reading 'Long Life' by Elaine Feinstein, and although I love 'Warning' by Jenny Joseph, I also turn to her 'Lullaby' in a different mood. Hoddy
I love "Warning" too even though I haven't been able to find a red hat big enough. Here's a related warning -I went out to lunch earlier this week with some former colleagues, several of whom I hadn't seen for some time. One of them had a dreadful cold and her face seemed badly swollen too. I was saved from complete embarrassment by another friend who quietly pointed out that the swollen face was due to Botox ! It made me decide to stick with the wrinkles.Hoddy
Patf
So that's one thing you can still do even though aged - write good poetry .Thanks for the link Norman [:)]
Cendrillon
Ah Hoddy, I like your comment about the wrinkles.I too met some friends I had not seen for ages and one commented that I had not got wrinkles unlike the rest of them. I replied that it is because I am fat so the wrinkles are stretched to fit my face.[8-)][8-|].......................................................doh!
