Back to the windy road, scary drive issue:

Seen on the road from Asmara to Masawa, Eritrea (scanned)

Notice the careful attention to health and safety.............no-one was seriously injured, apparently, either in the crash or the recovery, although we were stuck for about 3 hours...........

Really beautiful photos! Betty, if all of the roads were like that, I can imagine how frightening it must have been, what an experience.

I agree with Twinkle about Christine's photos, they could easily be a spread in a magazine. Do count me in for breakfast at that table please, it is stunning [:)].

Thank you.  We just went for a week some years ago, but I shall never forget it, it was one of those trips by Air France with hotels included and a 4L to drive around in !

If you would like a breakfast like that it was taken from our hotel room at La Roseraie, Ouirgane and the other was taken in the hotel Palais Salam at Taroudant.  I have plenty more, I loved it all so much !   [:)]

How extraordinary Kent, lovely photo. I really like the light. Mine is a little off track because it was taken here in France last week. Platans alongside the Canal du Midi, but I had to show it here, I have left the date on.

What are your trees, do you know. I can't identify them from the angle, but I tend to be better with wood I'm going to use rather than when it is verticle...

I went there in 1987 (really?...so long ago...) OH and I took the 2 kids (then 4+1/2 and 2 yrs old) on holiday to Cornwall, in a very old caravan pulled by a well battered ex-army LandRover ... We looked like gypsies but the kids loved it ! singing away ! waving happily to the other drivers on the road.....What a set up!.... the mad things you do when you are young!...

We stop there for lunch and the kids were mesmerised by the big blue&yellow squawking parrot which lived in a very large cage in a corner of the pub. Could not pulled them away from the place.... I am surprised the bird didn't take their fingers and hands off!! for all the warnings they had not to put their hands on the cage!.....

Is the parrot still there ?...

Thanks for the comments - unfortunately I really can't remember what the trees were - It was freezing cold, early spring but bright and I was sat on my bum in the middle of the three trees getting very odd looks from the mountain bikers who were passing and thought I had gone mad. I'll have to go back one day and see if I can identify .

i took this at the same time

Hello Missey Yes I also remenber the parrot from years ago, No sadley he wasnt there, but with new rules about animals in places where food is being served it is possible that he was somewhere else , also it has had new owners since then so he may of moved with the old ones. Its hard to believe that 1987 was 20 years ago isnt it????[:'(]
