Online Medical appointments

These two site are very useful for making appointments with specialists.

I wanted to group two check-ups together, and on these sites you can see when the Doctor is free and choose the time that suits you, which is easier than juggling two different receptionists.

You can also get information about who is available in your area for a particular specialism, or you can just enter the name of the Doctor you want to see if you know it.

I could also be useful for those who struggle in French on the telephone.

There are two sites because some are registered with one and others with anoth

I think if you need to see someone in a hurry, there is no beating a phone call from your doctor or another specialist and the date is fixed there and then.

OTOH, for non urgent stuff, on-line appts has to be the way to go.

GG, sending you a PM in perhaps a few hours unless I can find your email amongst the unordered mess that is my usual modus operandi!

It will be usefull for me Norman but maybe in a couple of hundred years when the local mentality evolves to that of the 21st century, for now not one médecin, généraliste or spécialiste around here is bookable through either of the sites, nor are any of those that I have previously consulted in Amiens, we will have to continue phoning the phones that are never answered or going in person to book an appointment to find the doors locked and the faded and well used "fermeture exceptionelle" sign once again displayed.

Even a one man business like the scrapyard or suchlike has to have a grumpy and bored looking woman in a seperate cabin as the cash desk, bits of paper are filled out by the person on the (non) sales counter and have to be given to the woman where she copies it all out again, more often than not you cannot even ask the price of the person on the counter.

Of course these businesses die out but are never replaced, TBH that is no bad thing.

I still cannot even pay the water and sewage bills by virement bancaire, it has to be by cheque to their office which when I went there was no longer in existance and had a sign directing me to the Trésor publique in yet another town, they even send out 2 seperate bills on the same date with the same meter readings  whereas before it was just one, this time round after 3 months I still have not got the second bill.

I did after a real struggle find their bank détails, no way would they give them to me, and so I do pay by virement now but they are really unhappy about it and have told me so, its only a matter of time before they claim not to have recieved the transfer.

Interesting you posting this as before I had read it, I was chatting to a french friend and she was saying that this system was splendid for their GP, but the specific specialist they want, and it is nigh on impossible to get an appointment at the moment even via sites such as these.

So out of curiosity, checking on their needs, I have tried myself and the first one is for January 2018.......... other Doctors with this speciality are not on such sites and my friend says that they simply do not answer their phones.

Glad it works elsewhere, but in my old bit of the Alpes, it is apparently a different kettle of fish for some specialists.

Apparently, according to today's Midilibre that quite by chance featured one of them,  the two I linked to are mainly concerned with this region and may not work so well elsewhere, or at least not yet.

I hadn't realised that when I posted since all the people I consult are on one or the other..
