1. I suffered for you!! I used Internet Explorer 9 to try to play my links[geek] It didn't work.[:(], so you are not to blame... I think you need to download the latest version of Flash player compatible with IE At the top of the Youtube link there was the option 'télécharger' perhaps you should try that.
2. I may be wrong (note the time and date of that rare phrase ) but if you have Adobe on  your computer it should work in all browsers It might depend on the version and if it is up to date
3. Linking Mendelssohn, Chorales,  and unfortunate current events, this seems appropriate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEQSCeporv0 Click on 'show more' for a translation.. Or this version, by a New Zeland youth choir (no sign of any 'hoodies' here...) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlHDLGt7NOM&feature=related

9. A fair wind and a prosperous voyage [:)]
10. A brilliant collection of videos on  YouTube, including 2 Brahms symphonies conducted by Carlos Kleiber, an incandescent Eroica with Roger Norrington, and the B minor Mass with Harnoncourt. It helps if you have computer speakers as I mentioned before... http://www.youtube.com/user/HDvideocollections
11. In fact I watched it on iPlayer http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b013csn0/BBC_Proms_2011_Simon_Bolivar_Symphony_Orchestra/ but I  know you can't watch BBC on your computer
12. And this lovely version of Fauré http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMKyTAe6yeM
13. I know you are not having a lot of luck with iPlayer. You might like to look at this on Arte7 http://videos.arte.tv/fr/videos/concert_d_ouverture_du_festival_de_salzbourg_2011-4056116.html the opening concert of the Salzburg festival
14. I am always a bit behind. I just caught up with the Walton Violin concerto with Midori....I knewteh viola Concerto before , but not this. Will listen later to Tamsin Little.  She had a great reputation with some of the violin students at Wells that I used to accompany sometimes
15. http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2009/jun/20/william-christie-baroque-music-interview http://topics.nytimes.com/topics/reference/timestopics/people/c/william_christie/index.html I am not by nature an envious person, but his life is one I would have like to have had in many ways.
16. I still prefer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkQuvn45l-Q Even with a yank as conductor[;-)]
17. Have you got it open twice? Or is it opening another programme and playing at the same time itself?   I have that sometimes when I use adsl.tv I open  adsl and it also opens vlc player so I have the sound twice at slightly different times. iPlayer on the radio works very well for me though, and the Victoria programme is a real delight
18. I bought some cheap computer speakers with a separate bass unit (about 45 Euros) which improve the sound on my computer enormously. Not quite as good as quality HiFi, but a vast improvement on normal computer sound, and a great help for listening to the radio, watching TV or playing CDs on the computer. As I am 'fauché' I use the computer for all these functions.
19. Here: it is available in France, unlike TV http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/radio/bbc_radio_three/20110723
20.
They must be doing delayed broadcasts, Norman. Just had to stop everything and listen to the Brahms' violin and cello. It always reminds me of the time over 30 years ago when I was in hospital and OH brought me in the recording with Rostropovich and Perlman.  I played it over and over again and I knew I just had to live in order to hear some more music.
You can listen for up to 7 days on iPlayer
21. Ravel is more Spanish: after all he was born in the Basque country...
22. Have now caught up [:D] Wonderful performance of the "Academic festival " overture on the first night.....the sublime Schubert Quintet.... and the Czech night withe the Dvorak Cello concerto AND "Ma Vlast " [:D]
23. No but will be able to from Wednesday
24. This thread reinforces my belief that drivers who exchange their licences for a French one should be required to pass a test of the 'Code de la Route'. I know that this wouldn't cover holidaymakers, but they aren't here 365 days a year by definition.
