I love my Chromecast, anything I can stream on my laptop or phone, I can watch wirelessly on my TV.

We're not in the Dordogne, but next door, in the Lot. We regularly eat magret de canard, or cuisses, cooked in duck fat. I always have a jar of duck fat in the fridge, for adding to soups or frying potatoes. And every Christmas I make foie gras mi-cuite.

But the BMI gauge, between lower level and upper level of each group, is 20 kilos. Unless someone is sportif at a very high level, frame and muscle wouldn't make an enormous difference, would it?

Mint, I think it will be at 20h 30. So perhaps no news for a day or so?

Olivier Véran and Jérôme Salomon will hold a press conference on the evolution of the Covid-19 epidemic in France today, 28 January at 2 pm. Four hours ahead of their usual press conference.

Wonderful story Mr Banana!

Idun, did your test start with a question about a passport? If you try it again, and the first question is the passport one, then the correct answers are 1 Passport question, reponse C.2 Vous allez bien? reponse C.3 Martha, reponse C.4 Pantalon, reponse B.5 Marianne, reponse D.6 Antoine, reponse B . 7 Café, reponse B.8 cinema, reponse D.9 tennis, reponse B.10 Marion, reponse A.11 blah blah, reponse A.12 restaurant, reponse C.13 chocolat, reponse D.14 blah blah, reponse D .

And, I just did the test mentioned, and a managed a B2 avancé. I was convinced that I had bungled one of the answers, but apparently not. Luckily I gained my French nationality before the introduction of the language test though, I think I might struggle in real test environment.

I have to say Idun, that I find Engrenages quite hard to follow. It's not the vocabulary (flic, voyou, etc) it's the accent. Even my French husband struggles.

For anyone in France, wishing to order the UK food and drink they cannot live without, there is a site that delivers to France (post Brexit). http://www.thetradingpost.fr.

Just seen on the news that the santé site has been taken down to allow them to update with all of the vaccination centres. They say that it will be online tomorrow.https://www.bfmtv.com/tech/inscription-a-la-vaccination-le-site-officiel-du-gouvernement-tombe-en-panne_AN-202101140138.html

There is a good, and simple, guide below to change your search engine from bing to google, even for firefox."Change Bing to Google in FirefoxFirefox now uses Google as its default browser after several years of using Yahoo!. If you changed from Google to Bing or another search engine, it's easy to switch back to Google. To do so, open the Firefox browser and locate the menu button (three lines), then click on it. Next, scroll down to select Options and then click on Search. Locate the Default Search Engine option and select Google from the list. This will instantly make Google your default search engine in the Firefox browser."

There will be 6 ministers present for the announcements tonight, which suggests there will be a lot to say, and many subjects covered.

Has the notaire told you that you were disinherited, or do you know this because you have seen a copy of the will. I ask because my late mother drew up a handwritten will a long time ago in the UK, and then lodged the same will with her French notaire. The first notaire I saw seemed to think that the UK will was valid in France, but it was not the case, as it is only wills that were drawn up AFTER the introduction of the new laws that can be honoured. If the will predates the law changes, then French law will be applied, and children cannot be disinherited.

But the site does say "Attention, la réservation n'est pas encore ouverte au grand public.". It lists our infermière too. In fact, it looks an awful lot like the site linked to from the anti covid app for testing locations.

I feel that many may be holding out for the French Sanofi vaccine, but that will not now be available until the end of next year.
-
There are details of the roll-out of the vaccine here https://www.20minutes.fr/societe/2940043-20201226-coronavirus-doses-ages-objectifs-campagne-vaccination-chiffres It seems that the first delivery of vaccines was made to Paris, and vaccinations have only started in two Ehpads there, but is being extended to twenty three more this week. My opinion is that they are waiting to make sure there are no immediate adverse effects.I have just heard a doctor on BFMTV saying that the vaccinations in France to date are part of a pilot scheme.

Castex has announced that all travel from the UK to France is suspended from midnight for at least 48 hours.

I second rice wine, as Idun suggested. It would absolutely do the trick!
-
Erm, Lori, I think the link you have just given is for something else entirely!
-
Depends on the recipe, but you could, at a pinch, substitute vinaigre de xérès (sherry vinegar) in savoury dishes. Wouldn't work in a sherry trifle though.
-
Sorry Norman, that wasn't aimed at you, but Lori said she was outside her house.

Like this Norman https://tinyurl.com/

Due to the length of the link to Google maps, I couldn't reply to Lori's post either. I'm not sure though that posting your address and photo on social media is entirely a good idea.
Sometimes it really is better to admit that you don't know...
