caravan registration

Sorry but back on this old thread again. Have tried to get information as to how to go about registering our English caravan here in France but everywhere I ask I seem to get different information including the British Consulate in Bordeaux who say its unlikely as the doors are on the wrong side.

Has anyone in Region 16, we're in Cognac, actually managed to achieve this? If so do let us know how to go about it.
