johnv
good point well made .. but I think they are mainly heading for Cholet and wishfully thinking that this may give them an easier route somehow ..
Sunday Driver
If they're coming from Thouars direction, then they're still going to have to go through Argenton to get to Neuil les Aubiers where they can then cut south on the new bypass to pick up the N249 at le Peu du Pin.By the way, how are you lot getting on with your town having being renamed as Argenton les Vallées? What was the reason for the change?
PeterG
I asked that myself, when I was there last week. The story I got was that all the surrounding communes have clubbed together to make one big commune "Les Vallees" (eg. Sanzay, now Sanzay les Vallees etc. etc,), Being a bigger commune they can command a higher amount of government budgets and the like.

Twingoman
Is this road now open fully? The latest Michelin printed map shows the proposed route of the continuation of the road onto Bressuire, looking like it merges into the current bypass, rather than joining the roundabout at the end of the bypassAlthough this would make sense, I don't know how accurate this is!
