There seems to be a campaign by animal rights activists aimed at regional websites in Languedoc Rousillon.

Of course, it is cruel, and cannot be defended.

But should anglophones be actively involved with these sort of campaigns in their adopted country ?

I don't quite understand what you are asking us Peter.  You mention a "campaign" against regional websites in Languedoc Rousillon.  Is the campaign the two emails you received?

They were both apparently from first a French couple, then a Spanish/French couple.  So I don't understand your second question :
