Dream Achieved!!!!!!!!

Well we did it! Completed signing for the purchase of our house last month.We are so excited and pleased with it. We are just north of Berrien ,which is just north of Huelgoat and south of Morlaix.Is there any forum members nearby who can give us any practical info or advice on the area.We have already made some useful contacts for gardening and the vendor has been marvellous in helping us set up bank accounts , untilities etc. We have met our neighbours and they all seem very nice and welcoming, we better brush up on our rusty french as they are french speakers and speak little english of which we do not mind.It was quite a wrench to return to England,we love the place so much.We are going back on the 17 th of this month though.We have bought the property as a second home at present but will hopefully move over eventually.It would be nice to hear from any forum members who live locally.

You won't have any trouble finding other english people in that area as there are very many there now and if you shop in the Intermarché at Huelgoat you may even find english food products.

A particularly impractical piece of information, that will however win you kudos with anyone watching, is how to make the 'roche tremblante' at Huelgoat move.

There is a white dot on the upper side (I'm going back 15yrs, it may say 'push here' now), and if two of you push very hard for about one second, stop for two, then push again and keep repeating this gradually lengthening the intervals, the rock will start to move and all those Frenchies will look at you, the Anglais, who can make their rock move, in amazement. In order to appreciate the movement it may be necessary to lean an umbrella against the rock.

The Devil's Grotto nearby is a useful place to throw away those unwanted kittens.
