Catalpa
It's suddenly got very cold in here....
Wrap a scarf round your neck immediately... that's particularly where you'll feel the draughts! Pashminas work well - they're apparently sooo last decade (darling)... but no one on this (or your) part of the fashion world would likely know that. cooperlola
Tea cosies and hats to hand (or should that be head?), wig ordered and should arrive tomorrow. What an absolutely delightful woman was the hairdresser. A specialist in these things and boy, does she deserve to be. I can't recommend her highly enough. The most disturbing aspect, which I had not anticipated at all, is my resemblance to my late sister. Very scary.[:(]

sueyh
The number of times I look in the mirror and my mother looks back. It's a bit scary but she was a wonderful woman, so don't mind really. And thankfully I have inherited her optimism and wicked sense of humour.Hope all has gone well (or is well gone) today Deb.Suey x
idun
But do you like it? I hope you do. I went to see a cousin I hadn't seen for a few years a couple of weeks ago and she said I just looked like my mother [:-))]. I keep looking in the mirror, I rarely do usually, and cannot really see it myself, but if we could see ourselves as others see us etc etc! Well whatever the packaging I haven't got her character, which is rather reassuring.

My middle-age turkey neck is certainly far more obvious than when my hair was long. But I am sure that I made a very good choice of hairdresser. I left the style to her and I think she did a good job. She was also kindness itself, deals regularly with cancer patients, and is very professional.I don't know whether or not I look like my mother - the story in our family was always that I took after my Dad. Certainly if my insides take after him then I'll die happy. Of all the people I've met so far, he's the one I admire the most.To avoid looking like my mother, all I have to do is smile, anyway. I guess it's pretty much the same for you, Idun.[:)]
idun
My mother, well she used to say I was built like a cart horse. She probably had a really dirty mind too, as she looked down her nose at everyone and suspected 'me' of doing things that I had not get a clue about at the time. So, I grew up lacking self assurance, timid, naieve and thinking that I was generally unattractive. Her smile and laugh were usually reserved for other people's misfortune. No idea how my Dad put up with her, but I suppose in those days, one did. Turkey neck, non, don't look at those crinkly bits, mer de alors woman, you'll be looking at saggy bits and pieces next, it's called getting older and what the xxxx, we women are as we are as the years pass. I'm glad that you don't mind your hair, that is good.

And that it's better than you expected is great! I'd avoid looking at the turkey neck and other saggy bits - that's why short-sight was invented! cooperlola
Unfortunately, apart from for reading, my sight is pretty good.[:-))]The o/h likes the hair but then he's always liked short hair far more than I do. The wig has arrived (how's that for service?). I'm off to get it fitted follwed by lunch at a posh restaurant while food still tastes of something. We have two friends over from the UK so it will be a good afternoon before the chemo begins. They have a rather nice motor to boot - a '59 DB Panhard.[:)]

Théière
Never really had a problem with food taste. Used to go to a Mediterranean restaurant after a session, fresh seasoned salad, humus, grilled chicken. Can't even remember what gave a metallic taste it was that rare. Hospital sandwiches were bad though.Another best wish for tomorrow

The fact that I could have it made up with 3 different colours I felt made it look more "normal" than some of the flatter colours. I can't say enough good things about the hairdresser - she's been great.Lunch opposite her salon wasn't bad either.[:)] Chances are my taste buds may not be affected, but just in case, I felt I should give them a good work out.
