winedrinker Posted July 30, 2006 Share Posted July 30, 2006 Can anybody explain to me the difference between the various Police Forces in France.The Police Municipal have been explained as glorified Traffic Wardens but what is the difference between the Gendarmes and the Police National? (I realise the Gendarmerie are a part of the Military but they are not Military Police as the Brits know because they have powers over the civil population; indeed the Gendarmes are the Army of the People.)
