kevgroarke
My wife and I and another couple will be staying in a gite very close to Ruffec. Dates: 28th July - 1st AugustWe'd like to get the most out of the visit in the short time we are there. What can people recommend?Likes: Wine, cheese, a little bit of site seeing, French culture.Dislikes: Pretty easy going, open to suggestions. betoulle
le parc de l'Abrègement à Bioussac is a beautiful garden to visit; 2 great restaurants in Nanteuil; the nearby village of Verteuil; the chateau at La Rochefoucauld; Angouleme.....that should fill the 3 days easily

sid
Oradour sur Glane. Lezay Market (Tuesdays) .
Oh yes, Oradour sur Glane should be compulsory!!Ruffec is not really a tourist centre, so don't expect too much!! [;-)]Vallee de Singes gets good reviews. An afternoon in Angouleme, walking round the ramparts and the old town.Visit to one of the Cognac distilleries, (our favourite is Hennessey), in Cognac or Jarnac.Boat trip on the river Charente from Angouleme or Jarnac. It might have been a good idea to check what there is to do before booking a gite in/near Ruffec! [:-))]Try this site for (16) Charente: http://loisirs.grenooye.fr/16/activites there's a good list of 401 things to see and do.
sid
Ah OK, so the OP is actually setting up a gite in Ruffec perhaps and just wants a list of attractions to put in his/her welcome binder? [;-)]
Anton Redman
It might help if we knew if the Ruffec being visited was in 87,33 or
