Dave
Friends of mine are planning their first French holiday at Easter-time in their motorhome, crossing through the tunnel and making a leisurely trip across the north coast. Can anyone advise, please on where to overnight, on the electrical hookups, & any other things that they should know? Many thanks.
Chancer
Google "aire de repos camping car".Hook ups are the standard caravan plug but often you will find that the live and neutral are reversed, if thats of concern to you then some of the caravan places sell a tester and an adaptor plug socket to reverse it back again, so I am informed at least, as it doesnt worry me. Chancer
Actually some of the older municipal and private sites have not been brought up to the current normes and will still be using a French 3 pin socket so might be wise to bring an adaptor, also usefull if you want to hook up to a private dwelling. elamessa
I would suggest to your friends in getting the ACSI camping book and All The Aires France book. The ACSI book gives discount to campsites that are signed up to the scheme in the *off peak season* and the Aires France lists locations and facilities of all the Aires in France. Both books can be purchased from https://www.vicarious-shop.com/*Basically every month except July and August.
