The local notaire has advised it is OK to use a POA from an English solicitor to enable my wife to sign on my behalf. However the English solicitor is concerned that this might not be acceptable in French law. Does anyone have any experience of this or know the correct answer? Panda Posted April 19, 2007 Share Posted April 19, 2007 HelloWe did this and when we first purchased and when we sold recently the couple did exactly this, the husband signed here and the wife gave POA witnessed by their solicitor, this worked fine and they used this for both the compromis and the final acte de vente.Panda Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Babbles Posted April 19, 2007 Share Posted April 19, 2007 Had no problems with using POA for the first signing but we both had to be there for the second, it slightly slowed down the 7 day cooling off period because MOH had to recieve the compromis vent papers in the post and wait 7 days from the date they were signed for but it was no problem and didn't effect the final signing date Good Luck[:)] Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Spicy Posted April 19, 2007 Share Posted April 19, 2007 The first contract (compromis/promesse) can be signed in the UK and you can get your UK based solicitor to act as a witness.
