Are there new succession laws?

Hi all  wonder if you know anything about the new succession laws that have been around for aobut 3 months?  Have been talking to a friend that lives in France and he said they have changed can anyone shed any light please?  Second marriage, three kids from one marriage, one from other and one joint.

You would need to talk to a notaire or other qualified law specialist, but basically there is a degree of recognition for step children in the latest version of the law - this does need to be properly set up and involves the agreement of the reserved heirs to children from outside the marriage being included in the will. It is also possible under the Jan 2007 laws for grandparents to name grandchildren as heirs rather than passing the estate down the line through the parents - again this has to be properly set up.
