There was no sign of them yesterday; I am quite sure because I was cutting the long grass around the stump with shears up until gone 6 pm. I have been checking with Google and I think that they are slime moulds, although none of the moulds on the pictures I found were so prettily made. They are quite interesting beasties. They seem to be a sort of a hybrid between an amoeba and a mushroom and one variety glories in the name, Dog Vomit Slime Mould but mine are much prettier than that[:D].
