Martin Spamfree Posted June 12, 2009 Share Posted June 12, 2009 Some years back, I signed a deed of Enduring Power of Attorney so that if, one day, I lost my marbles, my kids could take charge of my affairs.I'm now living permanently in France. I have two questions:- If needed, could an Enduring Power of Attorney be registered in England and then used in France?- What is the French equivalent of Enduring Power of Attorney or Lasting Power of Attorney, if it exists?CheersMartin Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

parsnips Posted June 12, 2009 Share Posted June 12, 2009 Hi, What you signed was probably a "Mandat" which was only valid for a particular transaction. The french equivalent of enduring power of attorney, (which is very new) is the"Mandat de protection future", it seems very complicated (google it), but within a family wives and children have extensive powers anyway: the mandat seems primarily for third parties to look after isolated people.
