We are planning a short ride out on Friday to visit the Dordogne river dams. Four bikes at the moment and we will be setting off from Sarlat at around 9 in the morning. Any one else interested then send me a PM. We intend to stop for lunch at midday and there will be a few coffee stops too.

Five bikes now. At least 3 members of this forum, shall we make this a regular thing?

Steve give us a shout when you are back and we can arrange something, even if it is only a visit to you and try to get you to fit the starter onto that ugly bike of yours[:)].

Wobblemonster, I know that you will be with us in the morning, and we will discuss with Eddie then.

Bob, cheers, most kind. We travel back next Friday (15th?) but the first week we're filming old race tracks in the area for Yesterdays Racers.com, but after that, a beer a bar be que and a starter might be the way forward!!

Enjoy the ride out everone!!

Bob, we'd be keen to come next time. We work for a living but can usually make a weekday with a bit of notice. We're only just up the road from you, in fact, we have some jobs coming up in Rouffignac soon.

Well what happened then. Just before we left at 8:15 for the meet at Sarlat, I checked my email and found that Eric (VFR) had asked where we were meeting. I sent a quick email back saying Sarlat Post Office at 9.

Jude and I endured thick fog on the way to Sarlat and met SlickEddie and his wife Brigitte at his house, the other bike had not turned up by 9 am. This was going to be a problem as we were also meeting Wobblemonster in Souliac at 9:20. We arranged to meet the missing bike just outside Sarlat and as we passed the Post Office we found Eric waiting. Wobblemonster was the problem as we do not have mobiles and did not have his home number with us. We waited outside the Honda dealer for the late bike which turned out to be a BMW R1100RT.

When all bikes were present we drove like maniacs to meet Wobblemonster at an Irish pub, but got there just after 10, he had of course thought that we were not coming! What could we do? No choice but to carry on and hope we could spot him on his Blackbird somewhere. Boy did I feel guilty, and it was not my fault!

We stopped for lunch at Martel, picture below.

The trip carried on to the huge dams on the Dordogne river, but stopped for the photoshoots on the way. This little bridge seemed a good place till the locals decided that they wanted to cross in a car.

The dams themselves were pretty unspectacular, but that didn't matter to us as the ride was great and so was the company. We stopped a few more times on the way back for coffee and drinks at the most remote places that we could find.

And parked all over the place.

My biggest regret was the feeling that I had let Wobblemonster down. When I discussed this with Eddie (Triumph) he suggested that we would arrange another meet and make it up to him. So if you are reading this, Wobblemonster, I am sorry and hope you won't hold it against me - I blame the R1100RT!
