Cassis Posted February 15, 2007 Share Posted February 15, 2007 It's highly unlikely an infestation of caterpillars will kill a hedge, it will normally grow new leaves once the caterpillars have left, though if they defoliate it they may weaken it. I would think it would only be a problem if it happens several years running. A mixed hedge will naturally feed all sorts of insect life and birds.
