Turf - In Sarthe - Any Ideas?

Hi

I wondered if anyone knows where I might be able to buy turf, in the Sarthe area preferably.  And, maybe more importantly, what it would be called!  It just might be easier than givving the birds an extra treat and seeing bare earth two months later!

Hi,

The French treat you as if you are crazy if you ask for turf, our local garden centre looking at us as if we had just arrived from the planet Zog, but it is out there.

Google for pelouse en plaques: there are companies growing it to supply the Paris market and for sports turf. My own garden will get a shiny new lawn from turf when the builders stop throwing rubble everywhere!

Thanks.  I suspected we'd get the reception you did if we asked about it!  We'll do a bit of "googling".  Otherwise I guess it's seed and and 24 hour guards to keep the birdies off:-)

I've always grown lawns from seed.  Birds may eat a bit but not enough to make a difference unless you have a huge local pigeon problem (i.e. scores of them).  Since the preparation is exactly the same, it's a lot cheaper and easier than laying turf, too.  So if you can't find your turf then all is not lost! [:)]
