bubbles
France is a big country, Suzy!I think you should give some idea of your route and how far along it you will be when you want to stop for the night!
suzy
Oh flipping heck, what a div I am. Sorry, it should have said anywhere between Beaune and Macon. We'll be on the motorway coming from Troyes and heading for Ales. Somewhere nice and winey would be good !I hate this 'getting old' lark !!!Sue
bubbles
I'm sure someone will come up with some good stopovers now that you have given more details! Sorry I can't help - it's 10 years since we drove that way - we tend to fly back on our visits to UK.Seem to remember the food was scrumptious round those parts though - and the wine should be really good there too.Actually, we will probably be driving from South to North - Perpignan to Lyon and passing through Beaune - at the beginning of October so please can we have feedback? This is making me hungry and thirsty and it's only 4.30. Gardengirl
We usually stay in a lovely B & B in Beaune itself. However, someone we know has stayed here: http://www.maisonniepce.com/chambres_en.html

suzy
Hello all, I was asked to feed back on the B&B recommended earlier in the post, so am doing just that !We had an excellent stay, the house is very old, beautifully furnished and breakfasts are good. However we arrived on a Monday evening and everything - yes, everything is closed in the little town. I know Monday's can be iffy for eating, but you can usually find something !!! However, Tournus is only 9k away and although most of that was closed too, we did manage to spot about 4 restaurants which were open and we were very adequately fed.So thanks for the recommendation, we would definitely stay here again and can report back positively. For anyone wanting a stay near Montelimar - overnight or otherwise, we can warmly recommendwww.lemasdesabeilles.comWonderful house and hosts, gorgeous rooms, breakfasts to die for and about the same price as the B&B above.Sue
